RSVP Respond by Date??

thefuturemrspeterson, on February 25, 2014 at 5:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

So from what I have gathered, and what I have heard about my FH's family is that RSVPs are hard to get back. I am starting to work on invitation wording, and was wondering what I should put as my RSVP date? My venue has requested that a preliminary number is given to them 45 days prior, with a final headcount due 10 days before the big day. What would you put/ what would be appropriate to put down as the respond by date? Or how far in advance did you put? I have read everything from 2 weeks to 8 weeks! Help!

I put mine for April 3 which is a month before the wedding.

For any non responders, I will be contacting them (phone, text, email) notifying them that they have until April 10 to respond and if I don't hear back, I am sorry, but I will have to put them down as a no and I will be sure to share pictures with them.

Make sure you put an e-mail, phone number, or some other way for people to get into contact with you. Some people simply forget to mail the RSVP cards and then have an "oh shoot" moment and call you in a panic to tell you they are coming. I would make sure you also have contact info for everyone you are inviting so if you do not get a reply you can send an e-mail or call them to double check.

I put the RSVP by date 4 weeks before the wedding. the venue requires a count 2 weeks prior. that gives me two weeks to hunt people down.
