RSVP Online Only?

MrsTommyBoy, on August 10, 2017 at 8:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 42

Scrolling through the posts, I notice the rsvping after the invitations have been sent are one of the biggest frustrations for soon to be brides.

Has anyone just excluded the rsvp card and just directed guests to the wedding website to rsvp?

Yep. Did it over 4 years ago. Total success; we heard from all but one couple 10 days before our due date. Online responses has become the norm for the weddings we've been invited to, over the last few years.

My cousin is using this the knot website to RSVP rather than paying for two stamps per invitation

That's what we'll be doing. That way it saves us postage and the headache. Everyone on my guest list is tech savvy though.

We are doing that! We also put our phone numbers on the info card. We obviously haven't sent them out yet, but I've heard positive things about doing this. So we shall see.

Don't do it! Getting mail is such a pleasure. It was so much fun to come home after work every day and see who had sent back their little envelopes. It turned out to be one of the coolest parts of wedding planning.

I'm doing it, saving stamp money and keeping all the info in my account/website.

WW holds all my information, my guests info, my website, payments, vendor info... the fact that my online responses go where they need to go to keep me updated is just great in my opinion!

I understand the thrill of having the envelops delivered on your mailbox but I honestly don't thinks is worth the cost since I'm trying to squeeze in a DJ which was not in our budget!

In my case is a matter of necessity/budget, convenience is just a plus.

We are doing it and including phone number for the computer illiterate. I hope it runs smoothly!

I did. I didn't realize so many people exclusively did it until I posted about a mistake the other day. FH's best friend is getting married 2 weeks before us and they did traditional and online. The whole point of me doing online was to save a bit of money on postage, time on addressing everything, and ease of seating everyone by the website keeping track. I would fine if someone did online, when I asked my mom she was all for it and I was shocked.

I am currently doing this, and it's going fairly well. The people I'm concerned about not understanding (older crowd) I see regularly enough so they can rsvp face to face. My one recommendation is to double and triple check spelling of names. I've had 2 people so far who I missed a letter in their names so they couldn't rsvp online. Luckily they had my cell # and were able to text and let me know. So maybe just add a phone number on the rsvp note you ad in with your invites.

We included RSVP cards but ONLY stamped those envelopes for those that were older and not computer savvy. For everyone else, I told them to RSVP on our website. Made it easier for everyone involved.

I had a lot of older/traditional folk so I did cards. I'm on a ship right now and don't get off until end of the month, and wish I had given the option to RSVP online so I'd have some idea of how many are coming without my MOH going to my house and opening my cards. Something to consider if you travel a lot.

My then 87 year old grandmother was able to successfully complete our online RSVP. And she primarily uses her computer to play games. Our website address was on our Save the Dates, so she was familiar with all the information/pages of our website.

We did, and it was fine. Only one person wasn't able to figure it out. And we figure there would have been at least one person who managed to RSVP online but would have forgotten to send back an RSVP card.
