rsvp Online Only - Additional Card or Directly on Invite?

Stephanie, on January 28, 2020 at 10:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I see so many of these questions, so I apologize in advance, but they never answer my question and there are always mixed reviews (surprise surprise!). * I am not questioning IF I will do online only, I definitely am. *

My question is do I have to include an extra card to tell people to RSVP online/find accommodations/etc. or can I just put it directly on the invite at the bottom?

As somewhat of a minimalist I like to have everything clean and on one page - is that a total no no?

I saw a comment that some people lost their business card sized RSVP inserts and I definitely don't want that to happen.

Thanks in advance!

xo Steph

I put it on the bottom of the invite. I thought it looked clean and succinct and not at all out of place. I wrote "please rsvp online at blank.com by March 11, 2020"

I also worried about someone losing the small card or insert

If there's room, you can put the RSVP on the invitation itself. Often times, it looks clunky so people opt for a separate details card. The only thing you never want on the invitation is registry info/asking for gifts.

It’s completely fine to put it directly on your invitation if that’s what you want to do.

You can add it right on the card lol PP said, but it may look a bit chunky esp. if it’s a long website (mine definitely was) you can also put it on the back and write “for RSVP, see back for details” and then put the RAVp date and your wedding website on the back

I put the our website info on the bottom of the invitation and it looked good.

We used a separate details card requesting RSVPs through our website because including the URL on the invitation looked tacky to me. We didn’t put the URL on the back of the invitation because we thought it could be easily overlooked. If you do use a separate card with RSVP instructions, make it larger than a business card! I think ours were 3 x 5 inches and we stuffed it on top of the invitation in the envelope to make sure it was seen.

Daughter didn't like the way it looked adding it at the bottom of the invitation (too cluttered, less formal, etc.). So she did a matching business card insert that said something like, "For more information and to RSVP by _____, please visit: website address." They looked nice, and she put the cards on top of the invitation, so when guests pulled the invite out of the envelope they were more likely to see the card. Her invitations (Zazzle) also had an option to print something on the back of the invitations themselves, so she put the web address there in case someone lost the card, they'd have it. It worked out fine. She had two great aunts who didn't respond online, but all other guests did, 95% of them by the RSVP deadline. Good luck!

I've seen people do it both ways. Im a minimalist also so I'd just write it on the bottom

I did mine at the bottom - no problem. My biggest issue with the online system so far has been that I didn't put the address on my invite - it's on the wedding website. And people have tossed their invites and can't remember where the wedding is and I keep getting texts. LOL. Madness.

I got 100 business cards from Vistaprint with all of the website information, RSVP by date, and my phone number for any guests who needed assistance! It cost me $15! I put them in with my invitations and they matched almost perfectly by coincidence!
