rsvp Menu Wording

Brittany, on August 11, 2019 at 8:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
Hey everyone! I am currently creating my invitations and I'm a little stuck with wording. We are having two entree's (filet mignon and crab cake) so we will not be having the usual plate options on our RSVP cards. I did want to add a line in there however for dietary restrictions. However, thinking about it, I'm not sure that I want to say "Please let us know of any dietary restrictions" because I'm honestly afraid of how specific people will want to be (certain diets, picky eaters, etc.). I know there are vegetarians in my family, so I definitely want to have a line in there. Is something like "Vegetarian option available upon request" too random without any context to what our meal is going to include?

Any suggestions? Smiley smile

Thanks so much!

Could you add the menu on your website (if you're having one) so people can see it there?

I would still put dietary restrictions and if someone just tries to say they are picky you can tell them you won’t be able to make additional accommodations for that. We made accommodations for allergies, kosher guests, and vegetarians/vegans.

I’d make sure to have the menu somewhere guests can see it and put something like, “Vegetarian and special dietary needs accommodated upon request.” If you get an unwarranted response like “I only like chicken nuggets” (my 20-year-old will only eat “kid food” 🙄), you can simply reply that you have a vegetarian option available, but that’s it.

I would recommend adding a line for dietary restrictions or letting the guests know the entrees in advance. The top allergen we needed to accommodate was shellfish!

Please let us know of any medical or religious dietary restriction, or if you are vegan or vegetarian. You are right to avoid the word diet.

We didnt add a line and people just wrote in if they had a restriction.
We were unable to list the vegetation option otherwise our venue would charge us for giving 3 options so anyone who was just wrote it in.

On the bottom of my response card I simply put, "Please notify the bride or groom of any food allergies or dietary restrictions".

I have received responses only for allergies or an intolerance, no responses from picky eaters.
