RSVP Maybe?!

Andrea, on March 21, 2012 at 4:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Who rsvp's maybe to a wedding? I find it more humorous than aggravating but really? "I'm coming but my husband may be after work. So 1 or 2." I'm not paying by the person because we're catering our own wedding (we were planning on having extra food, that's just how we roll), or else I'd probably be angry. Why would someone think it's ok to do this though?

In better news, a lot of rsvp's have been coming in and it makes me really excited to open my mailbox Smiley smile

I got some like that. Yes, but I'll let you know "for real" next month. The wedding is in 37 days. I don't think so---you're a NO. Especially since these (6!) people are 1,300 miles away.

Yeah I'm counting her hubby as a no. I don't even think we've met him, we know her through work. If you don't know now, send it in later, right? Unless your people were trying to get in before the deadline. I still have 5 weeks till my deadline lol

That's really funny. I know we have a lot of folks trying to decide if they're able to come or not. I anticipate getting a lot of those cards in the mail the week of our RSVP date.

It is fun to get them in the mail. Although it's really strange getting mail addressed to myself in my own handwriting. Smiley smile FH has started making a game of it - he reads them off like it's the Oscars or something. "And the RSVP goes to......Uncle Ernie for the no, booooooooo." Smiley smile

We had one RSVP "maybe" for her husband b/c he also didn't know his work schedule (he's a pilot for an airline). I don't know them well, but they're friends of my dad, so I wanted to count him as a no. Ask when they'll know his schedule, and mark your calendar to contact them then for a final decision - chances are it'll be before your guarantee is due to your caterer/venue. Our "maybe" turned out to be a yes. You just never know until you know. Smiley smile

    Good luck!

@kris that is cute! FH & I take turns opening rsvp's cuz he is as excited about them as I am! I opened 2 of the 3 that came yesterday because I knew 1 was gonna be a yes, and we got 3 more today and I opened 1 so he can have the other 2. They are sitting on the table STARING at me right now. I want to know who they are from and FH wont be home for 4 more hours. It's killing me!!!

If they don't know - consider them as a no. Invited gueste need to understand that some couples are paying per person and need to be more courteous of the situation.

    Good luck.

Please send the response card back on our dime!

Double check with them when you need to hand in your head count to the venue.

They might have a better idea of how work projects are coming along and if he will be able to leave early that day.
