rsvp Guests Issues Rant

Trisha, on August 26, 2020 at 8:30 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

No Questions Or Advice Needed BUT I Would Like To Complain About How Some Guests Who Are Unable To Make It To The Wedding ARE NOT ENTERING THEIR RSVP'S AS DECLINED.

I Probably Wouldnt Have Even Known They Couldnt Come Had I Not Asked If They Received Their Invite-I Wanted To Ask Those In Other States To Make Sure They Hadnt Gotten Lost.

I Just Wish People Understood That RSVPing Is For Both Accepting And Declining The Invitation.

I hear you! 1/2 my guests are still "pending" and definitely leaving us on pins and needles. And they've definitely gone to the website so they could've updated there or returned the (pre-stamped) RSVP. LOL....

That’s honestly how I feel. A lot of people had opened my message and did not answer. What is so hard about saying I am unable to make it. I even told people and put in my wedding website, please tell us if you can not make it so we have an accurate guest count. I guess it will benefit the people coming tho since I’m having buffet style food and there will be plenty for people to eat.

This was such a pet peeve of mine!!! I mean, you're inviting adults, how hard is it to mark a box and send it back...in a pre addressed and pre stamped envelope!! I'm sorry you have to deal with it. It's super annoying.

I agree just RSVP. We only did mail in ones. But the one that got me mad was from a cousin of mine; her husband is in bad health and has been for a number of years. So I expected a decline from them as it was. But she wrote on it, if you change your plans and postpone we might reconsider coming. Like no you won't! I know for a fact with or without COVID neither of you are coming! I found that to be rude, like just decline. I didn't need that line.

Exactly! It says accept and decline for a reason. We still need to know. I understand sometimes ppl forget or get distracted but for those who remember and just choose not to say anything are really aggravating. If I don't get a response, and you show up, you better hope someone was a no-show.

I mean I'm probably overthinking it and reading too much into, but you can't tell someone to reschedule their wedding (unless like mandates won't allow it). But that is how I took it which just made me even more upset. And my cousin, her mom is like my favorite aunt too.

I'm in the same boat! We did mail in rsvp's only. Some days we get like 4 and some days 1 or none. FH had his mom reach out to his side to send theirs in. We would rather have people who KNOW they're not coming send in the rsvp's in so we could have peace of mind. These people are like oh I'll send it in. I've come to find out people literally wait last minute to send theirs in.
