rsvp frustrations!

Trista, on August 3, 2019 at 10:41 PM Posted in Planning 1 42
All I can say is ugh. My wedding is September 7th and my rsvp deadline is August 15th. I have had TWO families RSVP! That's it! Do people just not RSVP anymore?! So frustrating!

You will get a flood of RSVPs on August 15th, 16th, and 17th. People just wait until the last minute.

Only two!? That is just awful. I'm sorry! I would definitely enlist help to have to people check in with those you haven't heard from right after the deadline date.

My wedding is September 7th too. We set our deadline for August 7th. We invited 149 people. So far we got 109 yes, 15 No, and 25 no responses yet. I'm pretty sure that 17 of those 25 will be No. Trust me I had my fiance and myself inquired verbally with some pretty upfront push to get a lot to RSVP. I don't have time and money to waste. Good luck with your responses

I found most people RSVPd near the end but generally a lot are SO BAD at it. You'll definitely have to chase people for their answer.

Okay now that’s crazy!! I am a September bride as well, September 21st and I’ve had almost 80 people rsvp already and it’s not “due” until August 24th! Ahh I’m sorry this is happening to you I’ll pray for the best

This is super frustrating! Most people don't understand how important those RSVPs are!

I have been shocked at how many grown ass people have not known what to do with RSVPs. Or a lot of people just wanting to RSVP verbally. I'd really prefer it in writing. Also I paid for those stamps, please use them.
There's still a few people we haven't heard from at all yet.

So we decided, about two weeks ago to have our wedding on September 1st. Instead of traditional invitations, I texted/emailed our invites. I set a RSVP deadline for August 5th. For people who didn’t respond or acknowledge the invite, I canceled because I don’t have time. Also, I have been in touch with my guests (via texts mostly) making them aware that they will be able to watch our wedding via Instagram livestream. With that being said, our wedding was no more than 50 people. I invited 79. I have confirmed 41 and all I’m waiting on now is for last minute cancellations, which will inevitably happen. Our reception venue wants us to confirm guest count 3 days prior so, I really didn’t want to waste any money. Period.

I opted for online rsvps so that no one had to go out of their way to RSVP. I put on my website that if they were having RSVP issues that they could just text me and let me know. Apparently even that is too hard.

I would just call and talk to people and say we really need the rsvps so we know if your comming or not to make sure we have enough food etc for our guests if you dont rsvp i cant make sure there will be enough and just try to be as nice as possible about it ...i still have 2 people who dont know so i just marked them as comming if not 60 bucks plus tax etc isnt going to break us so i just added them in plus always add like 2 or so just in case bc some people will say no and show up anyway so be prepared.

Ugh! That is so frustrating! I’ve heard that the last few days before your deadline, you’ll get a bunch. Hopefully you get more really soon.

And after they RSVP a certain percentage (apparently average of 10%) will not show up.

We were lucky and didn't have that experience. Only 1 couple didn't come after RSVPing yes, and that was because their flight got canceled and they couldn't get on a new one, so we knew about 2 days ahead of time that they couldn't make it.

I opted to send my wedding invitations pretty far in advanced. We aren’t getting married until October 4, 2020. We are sending them out October 4th of this year. We are making the deadline to RSVP March of 2020. This is so that we can plan a bit better. I know most people don’t send the invites out until a bit later, but because of money restrictions we want to ensure we get the most accurate information so we know how much food we need to buy for the grills and how many the cake needs to feed. I’m sorry to hear about your frustrations and everything though. I hope people will start sending those RSVPs in very soon!

Is it rude to send a friendly reminder a few weeks before the RSVP deadline?

I would just start calling people, it would be the best way to get a answer.
