rsvp frustration

Shelly, on February 22, 2020 at 11:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
We have a plated meal for our reception and on the RSVP cards people have four entree choices to choose from. I put right above the choices “please initial the entree choice of each guest” That way I know which guest ordered what because I need to have a symbol on the place cards to notify staff. Well I would say 90% of guests just put a number or check next to it. So now I am unsure of which guest wants what. FH says I should just guess and if I’m wrong they can swap because they will be sitting next to each other. Which i guess would be ok but I just don’t want all that commotion of I didn’t want this lol. Or I could reach out to everyone and ask. But no joke it would be most of my guests. What would you guys do?

I would do what your FH suggests. It should be no problem for them to just switch dishes, as opposed to the massive headache it would cause you to reach out to each guest

I agree that I'd follow your FH's suggestion. Even with weddings where I was very clear about which of us chose which entree, I've still had the servers give me the wrong meal and H and I just switch plates. It's not a big distraction/commotion. Smiley winking

I agree with your fh! That’s a much more sensible way to go about it since it’s less work

We’re putting multiple guests and stickers per escort card. For example, Mr and Mrs B were sent one invitation and responded with 1 beef and 1 fish. Escort card will state “Mr & Mrs B. Table 2” and a beef and fish sticker will be placed on the same card. The server can then ask when they go around to serve the actual meals but will know this couple ordered these options.

This will also allow us to order far less cards and stickers and save a little money.

We’ve been contacting people as we receive their rsvp. We’re excited that you’re celebrating with us but could you let us know who would like the chicken and who would like the beef filet. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Seemed easier than guessing and then they won’t have to swap meals. We did have one couple use their initials and we laughed because their both MR. they could have included a note :-)

Probably half of ours were returned wrong also :-). For the couples, we just guessed and they can switch them out. For bigger families - we did follow up via a phone call or text message to confirm who wanted which dish.
