Rsvp from guests

Lauren, on April 19, 2022 at 8:38 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Has anyone ever had a guest continually flip flop with their rsvp to your wedding? My cousin texted me last week to give her rsvp to my wedding in June, and was leaving the kids at home. Yesterday, she told me she could no longer come, as there was a dance recital for her daughter the same day. Now she just called and told me they rescheduled the recital and can come. I asked her to please wait until May 7th (the date listed on my rsvp card) in case anything else comes up.

Forgot to add: after discussing with my fiancé last night when she changed the rsvp, he really doesn’t want her to come at this point.

In this situation, I would invite her if she's someone I trully wanted there but I wouldn't if she's someone I only invited because she's family or if your parents or other family members pressured you... and if I barely see her and I wouldn't mind should she decline.
Whatever you decide, I totally understand your groom's feelings because her behavior is odd, to say the least.

" I asked her to please wait until May 7th (the date listed on my rsvp card) in case anything else comes up": It says it all !! I'm not sure whe she RSVPed, then "unRSVPed", then "RE-RSVPed". I could get should she tell you: "I may come/not come but I will confirm this later" but I wouldn't do what she did.

It is my cousin, who I once was extremely close with. We now live about 2 hours away from each other, and barely see each other. She guilted me into inviting her in the first place. My fiancé and her have said maybe 2 words to each other since i have been with him, and he has never met her fiancé (I personally am not a fan of her fiancé, and he does not like me much either). My fiancé told me to tell them not to bother coming at this point. We are having a very small intimate wedding of about 15 people.

You only mentioned reasons against inviting her and her fiancé but I son't see any "for".
Plus: weddings that intimate generally includes immediate family and closest friends you're still see in-person on the regular or via the internet.

What I am dealing with the RSVP cards is that some guest are telling that they sent it but I have received there's because I have a list with the ones that I have received. And then I told them verbally and thru text that they have an extra week from the date because of out of towners. I have return wedding invitations because of wrong addresses
