rsvp for informal alternative reception?

Mandi, on September 10, 2020 at 2:01 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
Is an RSVP too formal for an informal alternative reception.

Due to COVID some people are being invited to the virtual ceremony instead of in person. Were having an open yard/drive up party the next day.
I want to have cupcakes and treats for people. And enough. But I worry that an RSVP for a party like this might be too over the top?

I don’t think that’s bad to rsvp for it! I mean You’d want to just know you have enough treats and whatever else for everyone

An rsvp is never too formal. It's required for a wedding regardless of formality.

It does not have to be written rsvp. A casual affair usually has a casual reply. Call me or email me or text me whether you are coming or not, please, so that we will have refreshments for all. With the email or number in the message, if possible.

People RSVP to 3 year old’s birthday parties, I don’t think it’s too formal for your reception.
