RSVP for Destination Wedding

Terry, on March 18, 2017 at 10:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Hi Guys and Gals, happy Saturday!

I've looked all over and can't seem to find a consistent answer.

For sending invitations what would be the best timeline for invites for a Destination Wedding?

Sending:

RSVP due:

Wedding: 9/16/2017

Obviously it's beneficial to have it as early as possible. I'm hoping I can request the rsvp date earlier than the norm as I'd assume with a destination wedding people would decide to go or not further in advance.

This will depend on when your final count is due with your venue.

The final count is due 3 Friday's before the wedding. So about 2.5 weeks.

I sent save the dates in January and plan on sending out official invites by mid/end of April. Headcount for food and beverage is due 15 days before.

Th Knot suggests that regular invites go out 3 or so weeks and DW invites go out 3 months before. I could be wrong, this is the info I've been going off of though. (Planning a DW as well) I think it does make sense for invites (or at least save the dates) to go out pretty early since people have to take off work and sometimes use their vacation days.

So your final count is due 9/1?

If so, maybe RSVP 8/21 (gives you two weeks to call the stragglers), and send them the second week of July (9 weeks out).

Our dates are very close, here's my timeline:

Sending invites : first week of April or so

    Rsvp: July 1

After reading a bunch and talking it over with people (my parents etc) we felt like this was a good way to go. We figured this would give people the specifics so when they are finalizing plans they can take it into account but most likely the people going have already booked something or just about to. Good luck!

This is something I have been trying to figure out as well. I live in Hawaii but for most of our guests it is a DW. Hawaii is expensive to travel to and it's cheaper to book flights earlier. I sent out my STD's this week. Not sure when to send out invitations either. So basically I am of no help but am following(:

What does the hotel say in regards to booking rooms? I would at least send out you invites 3 months in advance
