rsvp etiquette

Rebekah, on July 11, 2019 at 10:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
Ok what’s the deal with RSVP... we did not sent return card envelopes but asked guests to respond via our website... that’s basically what every wedding I’ve been to has required and i saved the expense by just doing the website but people aren’t RSVPing. Do i literally just call each person at some point?

Your wedding is still a while from now. When is your rsvp date?

August 1st... it’s a destination wedding for 80% of the wedding ... we live in Oregon... most guests are traveling from out of state... AK, RI... all over ... his family lives in the bay

My guests just for their invites yesterday, and the wedding is in three months (RSVP date is Sept 10) and that's exactly what I did (meaning the website RSVP suggestion at the bottom instead of return cards). Like 7 people have texted me saying they are so excited to come but none of them have RSVPd on the website. Do I ask them to do that? Or do I just seperately keep track that they seem to be coming based on the fact that they are excited?

Yeah I had the same thing happen... Texts saying they are excited... but the rsvp has questions for them about their preferences and other things... but only a few RSVPs... i was planning to start calling August 1st... but just feel weird about it lol.

Yea people can be really annoying about it! Some wait til the last minute and some just never get around to it and need to be asked directly in a follow up

I've gotten a couple of "so excited" comments, but at the price per plate- I'm making a call to confirm before we turn in a headcount.

You can start contacting people August 2 but not before the RSVP date. We put stamped & addressed RSVP cards in every envelope, as well as a blurb about RSVPing online. Our guests had 6 weeks before they had to respond, and we still had to track down 61 people after our RSVP date.

We had to send out a bunch of texts asking ppl to RSVP or just tell us their RSVP and we'll record it.....but as others have said, dont reach out until after the deadline you gave them.

While it's annoying when you're excited and are waiting impatiently for people to RSVP, but you gave them until August 1 to RSVP, so try to just wait out the next three weeks. You should not attempt to follow-up with anyone until at least August 2nd. Good luck!
