RSVP Envelopes

Courtney, on February 3, 2016 at 6:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

So last week all of our invitations, RSVPs, and enclosure cards got delivered (two weeks early!! Ekkk!) and now they're just sitting on the dining room table driving me insane. We aren't planning on sending them out until the end of March, but I can't stop myself from wanting to go ahead and start putting them together.

My question is what is the proper way to go about RSVP envelopes? I have heard people say just leave them and let guests write the addresses and provide the stamps and I've heard people say you have to provide the stamp and address them. So what is everyone else doing or what did you do?? It would be nice to save on postage by not having to provide an extra stamp but I don't want to go about it the wrong way either...

I had them addressed and I will be putting stamps on them. I think people are more likely to send them back when most of the work is already done.

I had my return address printed on the RSVP envelop and plan on putting my own postage stamp on it. The only thing the guest will need to do is fill it out and put it in the mail.

I ordered my invites/rsvp postcards from Wedding Paper Divas. Since the rsvp cards are all going to the same place, I just had them print my address where the address lines on the postcard were.

BTW, my wedding is two weeks after yours but we're going to go ahead and send our invitations out at the beginning of March (we asked for responses by 4/18).

Edit - I did already stamp and number my rsvp postcards too! But I'll be out of the country for the next week and a half or so.

Address and stamp them!! It's hard enough to get your guests to send back their rsvps on time if at all Smiley smile

Mrs.T, that's a really early rsvp deadline. Your deadline to rsvp is when most people send out their invites.

Address and stamp. Be prepared you'll still have people who won't send it back. You could put them together though and wait to mail! I did that Smiley smile

@MayBride - Yes, I thought it was stupid early too when my coordinator suggested it, but most of my family is coming from out of town and should know by then whether they are coming. Many of FH's more local friends have already rsvp'd via web site. We will see what we get. I just didn't want to be stressing out about chasing down RSVPs for 250 people at the last minute before our final headcount is due.

Thanks guys!! This also may be a stupid question but I had planned on vistaprint putting our address on the RSVP envelopes and ordered if with ouch doing it. I did order return address labels though....can those be put on the RSVP envelopes instead of writing our address on all of them?? I can probably print it on them somehow but I just thought of that

Ever wonder if the people that don't send it back are using the stamped envelope to send out something else? Just a thought.

Stamp and address all of your rsvp envelopes before stuffing the invite. Make it as easy as possible for your guests Smiley smile

@StitchingBride, that could only happen if you don't put the return address front and center. Most rsvp envelopes are already addressed, so they can only be sent to one place.

People are lazy address them and provide a stamp. And that still won't help some folks.

I'll be using a label on my RSVP envelopes. I'll also be stamping all of mine to encourage people to just drop them in the mailbox.

I am going to address and stamp mine. I have seen people in the past who didnt put stamps, and they ended up having to do a lot more follow up with nonresponders because of the lack of stamp...crazy. Smiley sad

I was given an invite with an RSVP card; the RSVP envelope was not addressed nor was it stamped. That's tacky! Lol...please address them and stamp them, you don't want people making fun of you like I made fun of my cousin and his now wife.
