RSVP Due Date

Cassandra, on August 22, 2013 at 10:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

My wedding is November 9th and I am ordering invitations today. When should I mail them and what date should I put on the RSVP's to respond by? I need this information to order today (while I get a discount!). Smiley smile

I would have your RSVP date 2 weeks before your caterer needs the final numbers. This way you can give anyone who didn't RSVP one more week to decide and another week to figure out your seating chart.

Personally, I mailed mine out about two and a half months before the wedding (so June 15) and gave people a month to send in their RSVP (due July 15). This way, I had plenty of time to chase down the unresponsive ones

I would say RSVP date of Oct 19th (3 weeks before). You should send them out 6-8 weeks before. Myself- I sent them 10 weeks before.

Generally speaking, from what I remember, they should get sent out 6-8 weeks in advance of the event? Maybe more like 10 weeks for out of town guests.

RSVP date, I'd say set it a fortnight (at least) before your final numbers are due to your vendors. This gives you that extra time to chase stragglers and should mean less folk changing their plans after they've sent back their RSVPs.

Our wedding is October 12, our hotel blocks needed to be blocked by 9/11 our RSVP date is 9/14 and our reception hall needed to know a final by 9/28 this gives us two weeks to chase down people if needed.

My date twin! I am having my RSVP date on Oct. 11th. We are doing RSVP online, so I'm sure I will have to track half the people down.

I am doing online and response cards for my RSVP's. I really hope people RSVP online... it is so much easier to keep track of. Plus, we will be in the middle of moving. I didn't really want to mail them until we move the 1st of October, but I guess that may be kind of late. :/

A fortnight before your date. However take into consideration that your vendors have final dates too, like your caterer. Take that into consideration.

I'm glad you asked that question. I was wondering the same thing. Our venue requires 50% of the balance due based on estimated numbers 45 days prior and the final balance is due 3 days before with the final count. So I've been calculating backwards to think of a RSVP date. lol

I did the exact same thing as Silent Typewriter. My wedding is on November 15th. On the RSVP card, I set a deadline of September 27th. The caterer wants a headcount two weeks before the event. The deadline is so much earlier than that because I gave myself about a month and a half to track down stragglers because my GL is so large and I KNOW that people will forget to respond.

Mine is the same day as yours. I set my RSVP date as September 21st and am mailing them out on August 30th.

Our final date to reserve a hotel room is October 1st. Try to give yourself a couple of weeks to track down stragglers & make sure you have enough time to get all of the money to your caterer

I like that idea Silent Typewriter and Tatiana. The 50% of my estimated numbers would be July 9, 2014 to the venue. Which means my RSVP date would be 2-3 weeks prior to that date (approx June 18, 2014 or June 27, 2014)? Gives me time to "track down stagglers" lol. And mail out end of May? Does that sound right?
