RSVP due date

Olivia, on November 1, 2017 at 6:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

RSVP wording recommendations day to include a date by which people should respond. What is a good time frame? How much in advance of the wedding? If my wedding is December 21, should I ask for RSVPs by December 1st? Earlier? Later?

Thanks!

When does your caterer need final head count?

Mine needed final headcount 2 weeks before the wedding, so I made my RSVP a week and a half before that, to give me time to follow-up with any stragglers who didn't RSVP by the date.

I set it for a week before numbers were due to the venue so I had time to chase people who didn't RSVP. There will always be people who don't RSVP by the deadline.

I set our RSVP deadline date 10 days before the final count was due:

    RSVP - Nov 10

Final Count due to Caterer/Venue - Nov 20

    Wedding - Dec 2nd

Nov 10 is also the last day to book a room in our hotel block with the discount; that's why I chose that date Smiley smile Otherwise, I probably would've just done 1 week before. The majority have already RSVPed so I hopefully won't have to track down too many people!

I would also recommend 10 days before the COUNT is due. Give yourself plenty of time to follow up, because apparently people don't RSVP.

Thanks. Good idea to have a buffer. If my friends RSVP as often as they answer emails about volunteering for student organisations, I expect I'll be making a lot of follow up calls.

I did 4 weeks before but I feel like I should have done 6 weeks before.

We made our due by date Feb 1 for a March 10 wedding. Our caterers need final numbers by February 22nd. So I gave myself two and a half weeks to follow up with people. Also, almost everyone coming is from out of state, and we're sending invitations today so they have time.
