rsvp deadline

Katherine, on October 4, 2019 at 3:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
So our wedding is on the 26th of this month and we set our rsvp deadline for today. We have to finalize our count for the caterers by next Friday at the latest. How long should I wait to start messaging those who haven’t rsvp’ed yet? I don’t want to seem pushy by messaging them today, on the deadline, but also need to know very soon.

I would give them the weekend and start contacting people on Monday with a Thursday deadline. Let them know that no answer means they will not have place for them and cannot come.

    Date twin!

Our rsvp date was set for 09/26 since we had a lot of out-of-town guests on our list.

We messaged our close friends the day after, and followed up with others that weekend.

I would wait at least until after mail comes on Monday, as many people will drop them in the mail TODAY. The Monday after my (Thursday I think) deadline i came home to EIGHT In my mail box. So I’m a big advocate of waiting a little to save yourself the effort — I personally waited a full week before reaching out , and it paid off big because by then out of my 24 missing RSVPs, everyone but *one* had reached out— so I only needed to follow up with one person! I know you don’t have the luxury of a full week, but a couple extra days may get you a few more responses and save you some effort. If it were me, I’d start reaching out on Tuesday. Gives a little extra time while still allowing some time if you need to follow up your follow ups Smiley winking

(Unless you did online RSVPs instead of paper ones, then I think over the weekend is just fine 🤣)

Don't feel like you're being pushy. All you're doing is trying to get final numbers!

If you did online RSVP I don't think its rude to follow up right after the deadline. If you did mail RSVPS I would give it a few days.

We didn’t wait to start following up. Once the deadline passed, we started calling and texting to see if people had dropped theirs in the mail yet. We had a final count within 2 days after the deadline. There’s nothing rude about following up as long as the deadline has passed.

Thanks for the advice! We are doing online rsvp’s, so based on all of the advice we will start contacting them this weekend. We had a guest list of 105 and luckily there are only 15 who haven’t responded. So not that many to have to reach out to. Lol
