Super November 2019

rsvp deadline

Katie, on October 4, 2019 at 8:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
I sent my invitations out the last week of August and my RSVP deadline was for October 1st we have 25 families that have yet to respond so should I wait a little longer or is it okay to start messaging people now? The tropical storm collapsed part of our mail distribution center in Houston so I'm not sure when our mail would be back to normal for those who mailed their RSVP back within the last two weeks.

I don’t think it could hurt to start reaching out now. Even if they already sent it, you can just ask for their response and let them know you’re having mail problems.

That's what I was thinking but I didn't want to come off as pushy since it's only 4 days past the deadline

I would start reaching out now. We sent our invites out on the last day of July. I didn’t receive a response from a few family members - so I reached out to them a week beforehand. So happy that I did, they never received their invite & 4x families were able to attend despite not receiving the original invite.

I would definitely start reaching out. People really do forget or just don’t come around to doing it. I ran into the issue that even though we are a month away, because I waited so long to get an actual rsvp, most places who do acrylic seating charts need 3-4 weeks prior to wedding date to have it done. So I’m out of options for seating charts now. I’m not sure when your date is but I would start reaching out for sure.

That sounds like a good plan! You don't want to hear that the invitation was lost at a date close to, or beyond your wedding date.

    I hope it works out!!

Yes do! My day is November 1st and I have them until October 15th and now I regret it so the faster you know your rsvp, the better.

Message them now, better for you to start early, rather than later at crunch time.

Out of 65 invitations I sent, 19 did not return RSVPs. A few forgot, one sent and I never received, and others for whatever reason just didn't send back the pre-addressed pre-stamped rsvp 😑

You can def start calling them. Just be honest and say we need head counts in or... Not sure if your RSVP got lost in the storm. U know, just be real with them so you are comfortable the day of and things are less awkward.

Follow up even though it’s only been 5 weeks.

I sent follow up texts to those that I really wanted to see and deemed most likely to be delayed.

I sent them 8/8, 8/15, and the week of 8/23 (due by date).

I still received a few after the date (even one from my BiL that was IN the Wedding, so not really sure why they even sent it).
