RSVP deadline today..how long do I wait?

FMS, the barefoot wife!, on June 14, 2010 at 1:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Today is our RSVP deadline, on Friday, I sent a FB message to all the guests that I'm friends with reminding them that the rsvp deadline was coming up and we understand if they're unable to make it but either way let us know, etc.. I had quite a few RSVP after that. Now I am currently at 60-ish left to RSVP, My question is, how long do I wait until I call them to ask? I was thinking earliest on Wednsday/Thurdays (16/17) and the latest Next Monday? Any help aappreciated!

I would start this weekend! The sooner the better, IMO.

I gave a week after the deadline before I started making calls, unfortunately even then I didn't get returned calls. I actually made a post earlier about contacting those who STILL haven't responded...even after phone calls and I've decided that we have exhausted all efforts, you knew you were to RSVP or call and you didn't so if you show up don't expect food or a seat. Why can't people just be respectful and respond?! sorry for the rant! lol

Thanks ladies, I think Friday/Saturday I will make calls! @ FutureAfu, I'm expeceting some of the non-answers also, so I have it planned out I'm going to indirectly, politely indicate that if we don't hear from them by this day, we are going to assume that they're not attending and we will let the caterer know.. Our deadline is tomorrow and I expect that we'll be on the phone tomorrow night. I can't believe how many family members haven't responded yet, some who got married not that long ago, that certainly recall the importance of RSVPing! In the end, I expect that we're going to add a buffer to our official count "just in case" some non-RSVPers that we couldn't pin down do show up.

I guess to me a deadline is a deadline. I'd start calling people tomorrow if you have time.

Some people might put it in the mail (assuming you're having them mail RSVPs in) on the deadline so I'd give it a couple of days for them to trickle in and then get on their butts! I guess it would also depend on how soon your venue/caterer needs to know. Mine doesn't need an official number until 3 days before the wedding.

Hmm... I would wait 4-5 days after your deadline because some people wait until the deadline date to mail them, like MNBride said. Therefore, a few more may trickle in.

Unrelated - we have the same wedding day and my RSVP date is 7/17! Curious why your date is so early?

I was just telling a friend that most of his family members haven't sent theirs in yet and even though I "know" they are coming, having that RSVP is like a contract to me and makes it definite! We have two weeks left, I am waiting on about 75 people.

I was going to say start Weds but since your RSVP's are online/phone, I would start tomorrow. Just start with people you are closer with and work your way down.

Well then if you only had online and phone in - then I would start tomorrow. There's no postage slow down, and if the deadline is past, then they should expect a call or email!

    Good luck!

I waited a week before I started calling and emailing. I'm still missing responses from about 15 though...

My caterer figures in a little bit extra just in case. We don't pay for it unless it is actually eaten. i think it is like 10 percent more

Now that I'm planning my wedding, I feel really bad for not responding to a couple invitations I've received over the years. I had no idea! My RSVP date is not for a while, but I'm expecting karma to bite me in the butt now that it's my turn.
