RSVP Cards????

Kristina, on April 19, 2009 at 10:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Hey guys,

My fiance and I are thinking of making our own invitations. When you send out an invitation if you want ppl to mail the RSVP back you send an RSVP Card with the invitation, right? Is it just a little card that you stick in the envolope that says "RSVP: yes no" and then maybe their 2 choices for the meal (we're having plated dinners)? I'm clueless. Also, are you supposed to include something that they can mail it back in? Like another little envolope or is the card itself just supposed to be able to be mailed back (like put a section on it w/ ur adress like a postcard?) I'd really appreciate any help of someone explaing to me what exactly an RSVP card is and what goes on it ^^

Thanks ^^

We ordered our invites online. and when we ordered them we also were able to order matching RSVP cards. we got the invite, the envelope for the invite, the RSVP card the envelope for the RSVP card (which we chose to have pre-addressed). it was really handy.

Yes, you usually include an rsvp envelope for it to be mailed back in. ( http://www.southworth.com/page.php?id=127 ) . Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Congratulations on your wedding. Yes, included with your invitation you need to include an RSVP card with a stamped envelope that matches the size of your card. Unlike the Invitation, the RSVP card can have address labels. The RSVP card should read something like this...

    The favor of a reply

    is requested on or before

    May fifth.

    Name _____________________

    Number attending ___________

    Sorry, unable to attend _______

    Please make your dinner selection:

___ Beef Tenderloin or ___ Chicken Cordon Bleu ___ Vegetarian

Hope this helps. Good Luck & Best Wishes!

We are not doing cards but instead using an online website for RSVP's we are putting a small card (cardstock) with the website and an optional phone number (for those w/out internet-elderly) and where we are registered along with a map to the church/hall.

we are using mywedding.com instead of weddingwire because i liked there options better for rsvp however i like this site better for forums and searching... Smiley smile

Yes you are supposed to put the small card in there with the following

The favor of your reply is requested on or before

    April 10, 2010

    M ___________________

    Accept________

    Regrets________

    Meat_________ Veggie___________

I also put adults and children on mine because i have special things for the children going on so i needed to know how many also this may make a diff for your food count if you are having this catered!

Then put your different meal choices on the bottom of it Make sure you put a place for them to write there name otherwise you wont know who they are because often they do not write the return address on it!

I pre addressed the envelopes with our address and a STAMP!!!! I think that this is only proper etiquette and many of my guest said they thanked me for the stamp so many people dont do that these days and i truly believe that is why they do not get alot of rsvp back !

I stamped all my RSVPs and still had to pull teeth for ppl to mail them back!

My suggestion is to turn your RSVP card over and put a small number in the corner. Have a list with all of your guests and the corresponding number next to their name. This way if someone returns theirs without their name on it (it happend to us!) you can track down who it is. I wish I had done it. However it was a simple proces of elimenation for us. But had it not been, we could have been on the phone for weeks trying to find out who it was.

Thanks so much for the responses so far, they've been really helpful. I like the suggestion of putting stamps on the envolopes to be polite and of putting numbers on them and your guest list so you know who's returning it
