RSVP cards - who gets what meal?

Christina, on June 25, 2014 at 9:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Many of the invitations I am looking at have at least three lines for which kind of entree (we are having a plated dinner). How do you know person wants which entree? If a RSVP card from Mr. and Mrs. Smith checks both beef and chicken, who gets which?

We will also have some children (under 13) and minors (13-20) which are cheaper meals, so should be add lines to the RSVP cards that say Children (under 13), Minors (13-20)?

Thanks for the input.

I added a note to our RSVPs asking that people write first names next to the meals that they wanted instead of just the number.

I've been to a few plated meal weddings and on the invites we put names or initials next to who wanted what. Imo to make things easier for you as far as younger crowds I would think that minors (over 13) would get adult entrées like thier parents. Younger you could just put a line and ask number of meals for children under 13.

We are doing buffet but we get charged differently for kids of different ages so we are going to put lines for #of adults, #of kids 6-12 and #kids under 5.

@Jessica R, im jealous! Our venue charges the full amount for any guest over...wait for it... two! Seriously?? And the per person amount is based not only on the food but on the appetizers and alcohol! Ugh. Cant complain since I knew that going in but it still makes me scratch my head.

I have 3 entrée choices and a line for allergies on my RSVP cards. I asked them to please write the names of each guest beside their entrée, and to again write the name and any food allergy that may be relevant. I have been so relieved to see that everyone has followed directions and I have not gotten a single RSVP card with a "1" next to pork and a "1" next to salmon. Yay for being able to read! I wish you the same good fortune!
