RSVP Cards- One per person?

Erin Wood, on February 1, 2017 at 4:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

It occurred to me that some of the couples and their children that I invited have the same initials. If it is a party of 5 and the initials are all the same, how will I know who is eating what?

Did you give each person in the family their own RSVP card to fill out and write their name on it somewhere? If so did you still put ___ seats have been reserved?

Help! Thank you!

I personally wouldn't do a RSVP card for each member of the family. That would add up, both for buying enough response cards and possibly extra postage.

I would like to think (hope) that the family would realize that they all have the same initials and possibly write out each name. ("Katie and Kelsey" next to vegetarian, Kourtney next to beef, and "Kevin and Kalvin" next to chicken.)

Or you might just have to call them after you receive the RSVPs back.

Does your venue need to know exactly which person is eating what? Mine just needs to know how many of each meal per table.

I would just do one per family.

They'd just write out the full names next to the entrées instead of the initials, or use nicknames if they want to shorten the names a little. If there's an adult and a child with the same first initial (mom's name is Rachel, son's name is Ricky), and they choose not to write out the names, the R next to the children's meal is going to be for the kid and the R next to an adult entree will be for Rachel. Your guests will figure it out.

@Sara- I am stamping my place cards with meal choices which is why I need to know who is eating what. Venue probably just wants to know how many of each but I'll also be sending them a spreadsheet with how man of each meal will be at each table. I don't want the serving to take longer than necessary and I don't want the servers to have to go around the table asking people what they ordered.

Hoping people figure it out!! I just never know. My bridesmaid over the weekend thought her kids weren't invited even though the STD said & Family. FH best friend thought the engagement party invitation was for the wedding. LOL!! It's going to be fine. Thank you all !
