rsvp card

Cait, on February 17, 2021 at 9:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 11

Hello!

Wondering if I should send the RSVP card with the save the date? Is this too early? I have anxiety around sending the RSVP card with the invitation and finding out only a couple months before the wedding who will be there. The RSVP card will not be a mail back RSVP card. Instead, it will just list the details of the wedding website and such.

Thank you for your advice!

Definitely don’t send the RSVPs now! I know you’re antsy but it’s too early for people to commit to your wedding and the RSVPs are crucial with vendors.
If you’re worried about the paper RSVPs being lost or not getting them back in time, I suggest online RSVPs on your website! It’s super simple and immediate! You could send a card with your invites that way where to RSVP online!

I just noticed your wedding was mid 2022 - it’s too early to even send out your save the dates right now, girlfriend! People will long forget about the date by the time your invites roll out. Just hang in there and plan some other things for now. Don’t even send out your save the dates until probably Christmas this year!

No. The reply card goes with the invite. Guests do not reply to a save the date because it is not the invite. People will lose the info that early.

The standard 2 months prior when are invites are sent is plenty of time. Most people cannot guarantee time off from work until 4-6 weeks out.

RSVP deadlines are typically no sooner than a month prior to the event because most people cannot/will not provide an accurate RSVP response any further out.

No, reply cards are sent with the invitation and like Hannah said the deadline for RSVPs is normally about a month before the wedding. Otherwise, people can't accurately respond any sooner as their plans could change.

If you would ask people to RSVP now those answers would be totally useless because who knows what they will be doing 18 months from now, where they will work, if they can get off from work.

I sort of understand your anxiety but if you ask for your RSVPs earlier than the standard 4 weeks or so, you would probably have to deal with a lot of people changing their mind last minute and that would be way more stressful.

Plus do you really already know 100% sure who you want to be at your wedding? Friendships sometimes change. For me that's another reason why I wouldn't send out save the dates too early.

But to be completely honest, personally I don't think I know anyone who was engaged for more than a year and I really like short engagements. It is stressful. We have less money. But I think I would go totally crazy and drive everyone around me crazy, too. Anyways, I know this comment is a bit out of place and doesn't help you much. But I think you should just book your most important vendors now and then stop thinking and planning for the wedding until it gets closer. Just my two cents.

RSVP deadlines are typically 4-6 weeks before the wedding (usually 4 weeks but sometimes you can push it to 6 weeks). Your save the date should contain a link to your wedding website but RSVP cards or inserts should be sent later with the actual invitations

Hi everyone, yes I know not to send them out now. I am getting my ducks in a row and planing everything out as I am pregnant and will have a newborn baby during the time most people start the heavy planning.

Also I should have specified clearer...the wedding website is where people will RSVP not on the actually RSVP card. The card will just have the info of how to do so.
Nonetheless the consensus seems to be that you send RSVP details with invite not save the date.
    Thank you!

Agree with the others- don’t send the RSVP with the STD’s. STD’s are just a general info with no wedding details.

No RSVP cards with STD's. It's also a little early to send out STD's since your wedding is mid 2022!

Don't send them with your Save the Dates. Send them with your wedding invitations Smiley smile

If you want your guests to have early access to your wedding website, maybe see if you can put your wedding website on the back (or on the bottom) of your save the dates. That way, they can keep up-to-date with your wedding planning and registries.
