rsvp Card

Catherine, on May 22, 2021 at 11:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Hi! I'm a little confused on how to send out my rsvp cards. I made them straight to the point, but now I'm the one that is confused. Do I leave this part empty, "M___________________"? I am going to add the number of guest because I don't want any misunderstanding and of course the invites are addressed to the people that are invited. I just don't know if I should add anything on that line.

Thank you in advance!

That line is for them to write their names. You leave it blank traditionally. However most people don’t know that in this day and age. Does the reply card have a spot that says x seats have been reserved?

It’s for your guests to fill in their name(s), like “Mr. John Smith.” However, a lot of guests overlook this line, so a good trick is to number each of your RSVP cards with a small number on the back, and then keep a key of who that card gets sent to. That way, if you get any back without any names, you’ll know who it is from.

It has " __ Number of Guest Attending" I added the number of people I invited. Because I'm scared they are going to add their kids.

If they do, you roll with the punches and call them up to say ‘sorry we don’t have space to fit kids’

I got rid of the M on our RSVP card, for me it was way too formal. I have two lines for people to fill out for names. Then meal selection options

They fill that line out themselves. It’s especially helpful in scenarios where not everyone invited is coming, they can just write the name of those who are coming

I wrote the names in myself as most people neglect to. And to those who declined placed a small x over their names and a check over the ones who are attending.

I would not add the numbers yourself. Some people may not rsvp as 2 of 2, etc. Let them write that in themselves, and if you get added numbers, just let them know you can’t accommodate additional guests.

I left the M _____________ blank for them to fill in, but I have seen others fill in this section. I numbered the back of the RSVPs to coordinate with my guest list so if someone forgot to write their name but mailed the RSVP back, I would know who it was from. This saved me several times over the last few weeks.
