rsvp card help -wording for a buffet

FutureMrsK, on July 21, 2018 at 11:51 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 13

Hello All! I am having a hard time figuring out the wording on my rsvp. We are having a buffet rather than a plated meal so I don’t need to add in a choice for entrees but I do want to put a section for kids and vegetarian. What do you think of my rsvp so far? Is the wording correct? Is there too much information? Is it too confusing? Is putting names at the top weird? I am stuck and need some help. Thank you!

I would take out the buffet/kids/vegetarian line. Are there no veg options in your buffet?

    Here's how we did it!
I included a line for "dietary requirements", if anyone would like to let me know about any concerns such as being vegetarian, they can let me know there.
We're also having a laid back reception, so it fits our style ☺

I like this layout as it definitely makes the guests write their name on it (or I would hope they certainly would) and to get a plus one name if doing a seating chart. I'll keep that in mind, thanks for sharing!!

    Youre welcome!
I am hoping and praying people will actually see this brightly colored box right in front of their faces and write their pretty names there 😂😂😂

I love how you've done your RSVP. It's perfect, not too busy, not confusing, not too much information, and the placement of the name is great as well.
    It looks professional!
Well done...Now are you for hire? You can do mine for June of 2019ll💌

I agree as it could read like if you are a kid or a vegetarian you get a plated meal instead. I would be very prepared for the two invited guests to write "4" in the RSVP line. Also, number your RSPV's as a shocking number of people will not write their names on the rsvp. Trust me!

You're giving them to many options.. they will bring EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY.
If you know they have a lot of kids do you really want them running all over the place, think if who you really want to attend. On some invites dont ne scared to just write in the number of guest, they will call yo add extra ...just respond and say sorry I can't I'm over my budget ..or add Adult event.. , I know sound mean, stay in you're budget. Good luck.

Yes! writing a discrete guest code number on the back of the RSVP to ID the ones that come back without a name can be a life saver!! LOL

Mine were a little number in a circle, no one asked about them and yes they were a lifesaver as some folks did not write their names.

I would just have a line for dietary allergies. I would not use the word restrictions as you open yourself up to every person currently on the fad diet of the month putting down their requirements - which you then MUST follow as you've asked for it. Just specifying allergies will get you the information you need, and if someone is vegan or other diet they will find a way to let you know if it is important to them, just don't ask for extra information.

Also, as someone who has celiac (I actually cannot eat gluten) and have been diagnosed for over a decade, I've personally experienced how lumping together actual allergies with others preferences makes it so the allergy is taken WAY less seriously. (You'd think it is easier to eat gluten free today, but it very much is way harder to go out for food and have it be not contaminated as everyone thinks I'm just on a fad diet)
