Rsvp: by mail or online?

Future Mrs. Arroyo, on April 16, 2018 at 11:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 14
I’m trying my best to do everything the cheaper route if possible. My coworker just suggested I have guests RSVP on our website (I never set one up 🤦🏽‍♀️) but I’ve read mixed feelings about that process through here & through blogs, etc. I have yet to send out invites for our 10/6/18 wedding, which would include RSVP instruction.

Would you suggest online? Pros & Cons of having it done this route... thanks for your help!

I’m getting married the same day as you and will be doing online RSVP! It works best for us because we need guests to RSVP to our welcome reception, pick a meal choice, and tell is what hotel they will be staying at so we can arrange shuttles. Our wedding website is thru Minted. I disabled the RSVP function until we mail out invitations so I can’t tell you the cons of it yet but I would say make sure you pick a site that lets you control how many guests can RSVP. On Minted you can set the maximum amount of people they can RSVP for.

I used a website called Joy for the RSVPs and website. I really like it and after I figured out my hickups with it, it's a good system.

I also put in real RSVP cards also for the older generation who might not know how to do it online. I didn't put my website on my RSVP card, but now people are complaining that it is too confusing. My website is on my STD so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I am also getting married the same day as you Smiley smile We are doing online RSVP through wedding wire. We already mailed our invitations since we are doing a destination wedding and have gotten a few RSVPs already and so far so good. It seems easy to use and everyone has had a good experience so far. We are only inviting 50 people and everyone is tech savvy enough that I don't think we'll have any issues.

Their difficulty might be having to find the STD you sent earlier, to RSVP for the invitation that was just sent. Great idea to put in actual cards for the older people. That was my hesitation with doing online RSVP.

We had the option for both. Most people wanted to mail them out - I think because it’s kinda nostalgia of mailing things.
I would say if you have guests born before 1980 you should give a mail option

We just sent out our STDs. The website is on there and a couple have already RSVP online (those who have already booked plane tickets and such) We'll still be putting rsvps in the invitations too. The online option just happens to be there for convince.

Make sure you reconfirm with those that replied with the STD as their response might change when they receive the actual invite and time gets closer. You don't want it to reflect an inaccurate count because they already submitted it several months in advance

I haven't done online RSVP for a wedding but i did create one for my mom to use for my baby shower that had 100 invited guests. They had an option to call or submit online. Mostly everyone was able to log in and RSVP, various age groups. Just keep it hidden until you send out all invitations and use the options to help you steer people in the right direction as some of their plus ones you may not have their name listed. They should be able to select plus (if you allowed it) and add their name. On the site i used, if i didn't allow them a plus one when i created it, then it did not allow them to be able to add extra names. I have used the online site to rsvp to a friends wedding it was super easy.

I've never heard of online rsvping for a wedding before WW. IMO it lacks formality and cheapens the event.

Do not use wedding wire if you want to do online. It's been a nightmare.

Pros it is convenient way to rsvp. Con if you sent invites to less tech savy people say an elderly realitive or that doesnt have internet access is this going to be an inconvenience in long run.

Hey - do you mind elaborating? We are planning on using WW for ours and I'm a little nervous about it as I've heard mixed things.

I Will, but I'm not too worried about those. They're my aunt's and they've rented the house out next to ours.

If you RSVPing is online, why would you include instructions on how to RSVP on your invitation? If there was an RSVP card,
