rsvp and Meal cards

Jasmine, on July 21, 2020 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

First time doing this lol. Never actually been to a wedding either. do guests actually mail you back their RSVP cards, along with what meal choice they want? I feel like this is very inefficient with today's technology. Is there an alternative to this (besides facebook). I was wondering if wedding websites had the option of letting guests choose their meals. I know that they have the RSVP option already.

We used the Knot's RSVP function for this exact purpose and it worked out super well. We mailed paper invitations, but guests RSVP-ed online. Guests chose between one of 3 meal options when they RSVP-ed through our Knot website. I believe that WeddingWire has the same function as well. I would definitely recommend this!

You can do electronic RSVP as pp mentioned but if you have older guests who aren’t so tech savvy then it’s a good idea to give them the mail choice

You can have guests RSVP either via mail or through your wedding website. Most websites give the option to select their meal. I will say if you have RSVP via the website as the only option this may be normal difficult for older guests.

You can go electronic if you want. I offered our guests to either return the RSVP by snail mail or do it electronically. People LIKE to return mail RSVPs. I'm not sure why, but they do. Actually our whole guest list is very tech savvy and they are all mailing their RSVPs back.

Meal selections are important if you need guests to make the selection. Over the years and many events later, I opted to always go with two proteins on a plate thus eliminating the need to require pre-selections.

I have a wedding website through the knot that gives you the option to have guests rsvp digitally. Keep in mind though that elderly or more traditional guest will want to rsvp through the mail and they will expect it to already be stamped.

Yes we did all our RSVPs and meal choices online! Even our older non tech savvy guests had no problems.

Most wedding websites (The Knot, WeddingWire, Zola) allow you to have your guests RSVP and make a meal selection.

Most websites that do online RSVP have a meal option you can turn on. We have ours set up on Zola.

Yes people still mail in rsvp cards. Some people feel that a formal event requires paper invitations and replies. That holds true for fancier variations as well. You can have all the technology in the world but some events have a certain vibe that folks don't stray from. People love tradition and that should be held against them.

If you want, you can have guests email or text you with their replies. Some websites offer that option too. You will have to track down people after the deadline regardless of which you choose.
