Round or Rectangle Tables?

Maui K, on December 20, 2016 at 10:50 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

My reception space is really large, as you can see from the photo below. I was thinking about having round tables so I can spread them out a little and maybe put the dance floor in the middle, so I am utilizing a lot of the space. But, I really like the look of using 6ft rectangle tables because I can use some sort of garland for the centerpieces! But I'm not sure how I would position the tables.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do, round or rectangle? And how I should position them?

I will have 55 guests, so that's about 6 round tables or 9 rectangle tables.

If you're unsure, you could always do a mix of both. It looks really cool, and it can be easier to create a seating chart if all of your tables don't have the same number of seats.

There's a great website called AllSeated where you can plan this all out and see what you like/what looks good!

I second the idea of mixing. I think it allows more creativity with the layout too.

I like the idea of mixing the tables with your space!

In general I prefer round tables because I think they are easier for conversation, but I loooove the tablescapes you can do with rectangular tables!

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely check out the website AllSeated.

Does anyone have a photo of what the tables looked like mixed? I kind of like that idea!!!

I think mixing would be cool. I'm leaning towards rectangles as my space is somewhat funky but both are nice!

I like mixing. I think the rounds can be great for conversation, but most weddings I've been to have a large centerpiece. That limited our conversations to the people sitting next to you.

We are doing s mix of both. Our venue said that a lot of people are doing that now. I think it looks pretty. If I had to chose 1 I would say long rectangle with garlands down the center.

    Thanks for the example A&W!

Lisa K, I'm glad I'm not alone! I really want to get this figured out so I can then figure out my centerpieces!

I'm mixing them! I think you have room to play around with the arrangement. Here's an example of how mine is going to be set up. You would obviously have less tables, and you could leave the center open for dancing!

I personally don't like the mix. You could do an X shape with the long ones. And since 55 isn't a huge number I think it'd fit the space well

I personally prefer round becomes it gives everyone the advantage of facing each other and has more center space.
