Round or rectangle tables or a mix?

Jenna, on September 8, 2016 at 7:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 29

So the venue is giving us the option of doing round tables, large rectangular tables that sit 14, or a mix of the two. We liked the thought of mixing to be different is that a bad idea?

I personally prefer round tables, but a mixture could be good too.

Ours suggested doing the rectangular tables for the bridal party and other "VIPs" and round for the rest. I saw it while they were setting up for another wedding and it looked nice.

I would say a mixture round for guest and long rectangular for head tables.

We're doing a mix of both! It complements our venue really well and fits nicely in the courtyard where the reception will be. And adds a fun level of socialization. Smiley smile

I came across this on Pinterest (wasn't even searching for table ideas!) and love the way it looks.. With my venue I need to get my own tables/chairs from an outside vendor and this is the look I'm going for.. I think.

We're doing all round, I love the long tables, but my family pointed out that it's more difficult to converse with people at a rectangle table than a round one. All of our tables will strictly be people who are family to one another or close friends with one another (small wedding), so we decided to keep them all circular.

I actually hate rectangle tables. They make me feel like im in a high school cafateria and you cant see everyone at the table.

Rectangular tables are so hard to talk to people at. I like round tables better. If you're doing a head table I would do a rectangular table for that and round for all the rest.

As a guest I don't care the shape of my table. I don't really care about having to see everyone at the table.

Have you given any thoughts to centerpieces? Round vs. rectangle could make a difference in how centerpieces look.

I love the way the layout looks when mixed. We decided to go with two long tables- one for each of our most immediate family and rounds for everyone else

We considered doing a sweetheart table, rectangle tables for wedding party of 20 and round for guests. Then we considered that half of our wedding party ppl will have a plus one and would probably prefer sitting with them. We haven't decided yet but I think we're going to consider all round tables and half table for our sweetheart table.
