Round or Long narrow table?

Sasha, on July 15, 2019 at 5:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi guys, I'm having a backyard reception, and the yard is shaped a bit funny. It's 53 feet long, but half the length is more narrow, then it opens up to a wide area for the 20 feet closer to the house. I'm trying to figure out how to fit a good tent there.

I'm thinking of a long table for everyone, but will that feel too far apart from end to end vs. a bunch of round tables? Expecting 100 people, so 50 on each side of the table...

I've been looking through the #colorfulwedding hashtag on IG and there are some really beautiful long tables.

Contact your local rental companies and ask for their professional opinions. Different tents and sizes require different amounts of space on either side to tie/stake into the ground. I think your best bet is to take measurements and pictures and bring those to your the company you're thinking of getting your rentals from and let them recommend what would work best. And maybe compare prices after you've gotten a professional opinion.

As a gust I definitely prefer round tables - it's much easier to talk to people. You could also do a mix of both types in different parts of the yard.

If the yard is 53 feet long and you have 50 people side by side on each side of s long table, that only gives each person about 1 foot of space. Doesn’t sound like that is going to work.

I think several round tables would work out better for your guests!

Long tables sound really nice actually. Usually round tables are better for socializing though

Thanks for the feedback, going to go measure the yard tonight and get a professional opinion. Seriously wishing I had chosen somewhere indoors! But the invitations are out, the caterer has his deposit, I think I would look insane to change it at this late date...
