Room blocks

Samantha, on February 23, 2020 at 12:04 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 13
Hey ladies!
Just wondering if anyone has experience with courtesy room blocks on Long Island, NY? My FH and I are getting married at Bellport Country Club and are looking to do some room blocks for oot guests but aren't looking to spend money doing so. If anybody knows of any hotels or some advice that'd be great! Thanks!

I would just call around to the nearest hotels and ask them about courtesy room blocks. Most chains will accommodate them. You can also ask the events coordinator at the country club, since they have probably helped brides with this in the past.

I’m going to have to do the same in a couple months. What was your experience like so far. I’m going to need a hotel near East Northport.

We're going through Marriott hotels and all their hotels are courtesy blocks, the cutoff to get a discounted room is 30 days before the wedding

Right now, Fairfield Inn by Marriott in medford is all booked already. Apparently they have a big group of little league kids for a tornament the weekend of my wedding (Aug 29-30) but ive made calls to other ones in the surrounding area. Unfortunatley, the other three hotels Ive called, the sales manager is off today so I prob wont here back from them until tomorrow.

Damn. I hope you have more luck. Are they charging you for reserving the block?

Springhill suites by Marriott said we have to guarentee them 7 rooms, or we're responsible for the cost. So I said no, thank you. But im checking out other ones. There are supposed to be hotels offering room blocks at no cost to us. Ill let you know when I find out more, or if I book a place with no charges.

Lol! Sounds about right hahah. Its so weird that some Marriott hotels offer courtesy blocks and others charge too...I was able to secure one location but still need one more. The search continues!

So just an update- I booked Courtyard by Marriott MacArthur Airport- 10 courtesy room blocks at no cost to us. There were other hotels offering room blocks but at a high cost so Im still looking for something less that $200 a night....

I’d recommend using Kleinfeld Room Blocks (www.kleinfeldroomblocks.com). It’s a free service. You work with a consultant, and she does all of the research for you at no cost. She will identify hotels that meet your criteria in your designated area and then send you contracts. If your guests book with your block, the hotel gives Kleinfeld a small fee. Great service and super simple to use!
