Romantic Getaways in the Good Ole U.s.a.

mrsaj2b, on June 13, 2019 at 10:01 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 1 21

My FH and I have terrible work schedules. Right now he has been on a business trip for his firm since May 24th. I've not seen him since and even when we try to talk on the phone either I have a conference call or meeting and have to go or vice versa. Evening talks are also difficult as we both can have very late evenings and are just so knocked out when we settle in. It's just not happening.

We've talked about making sure to make time for us and that includes quick get-a-ways lasting about 3 to 4 days. When we get time we are always in the Caribbean but I'd like to find some sweet spots in the U.S.A.

Tell me some places you've been to that were romantic gems and/or unexpected finds.

Ocracoke Island NC is beautiful. It's off the coast of Cape Hatteras. You can rent cottages or condos. Frankenmuth Michigan is a year-round Christmas town. Mackinac Island Michigan is an island with no cars allowed.

Oh wow, an island with no cars? That sounds cool. I thought only year-round Christmas towns were only in Hallmark movies. LOL! That's awesome. Thanks for your suggestions.

We are going to Destin, Florida for our honeymoon! The emerald coast along the Gulf of Mexico has the most beautiful beaches you’ll find. I also recommend Gulf Shores, Alabama!

We live in Tennessee and Gatlinburg / Pidgeon Forge is quite popular for getaways and honeymoons. You can rent a cabin up in the mountains. It's super suclueded and there are tons of options for what your cabin includes. Like hot tubs, games, movie theaters, pools, etc. It's very pretty up there and you definitely won't be bothered.

I've always loved Savannah, GA as a long weekend length getaway destination. It has some very pretty historical sights, you could take a nice stroll along the river, and Tybee Island is about a half hour away if you wanted to go to the beach one day.

Napa can be really romantic, and I've heard the same about San Francisco. We found NY to be pretty romantic in the winter. San Diego is also a great beach destination! Or something like a weekend in the mountains in Colorado or Wyoming?

You could go to Sedona, Arizona. It's a fun place if you enjoy hiking, shopping, art, & relaxing. The Red Rock views are stunning! One of my favorite places on earth.

My FH lived in San Fran for a few years and says it’s the best. I have to gear myself up for the flight. It’s a long one! Lol. Napa is like Sonoma, right?
