Role for grandma

Fanta, on April 22, 2022 at 6:26 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 15
So I’m having a dilemma. I am trying to include my grandma in my wedding in some capacity. It’s a complicated relationship, but she helped raise me and contributed financially a TON growing up. Any ideas on what she can do? She’s 87, walks with a limp using a cane, refuses wheelchair use. I’m stumped 🤔. I’m

Are there going to be any type of readings done at your wedding? Doing a reading can be a meaningful honor to someone. I have an aunt I was close with growing up doing a reading at my wedding.
If she doesn’t like public speaking, will there be ceremony programs she can hand out?

I wanted my grandfather to be involved, so I asked if he would do a blessing before our meal. So it's not during the ceremony but still involves him.

Her being your grandma is a honor on its own. She doesn’t need to work in order to feel special. Just giver a pretty corsage and let her enjoy watching you get married.

I'd hand her your bouquet during the reception during your toast. Don't give her any tasks that will have eyes on her while she moves from one spot to another

Or during the ceremony, give all the moms a flower

I’m liking the program idea. The relationship is tricky so I’m not sure how I feel about her reading something; particularly because we’re not religious. Thanks for the suggestion!

These are really sweet idea that she’s probably love! Only issue is she can barely walk even with her cane. I’ll definitely get her a corsage though

I agree with this. Since she isn't very mobile, it would be difficult for her to do a "job" like a reading because she would have to get up and down from the altar. Just give her a corsage and a front row seat!

Why not ask her input to see if she’d like to be involved in any special way and hear her ideas?
