Robes vs Button down shirts?

Mrs.ChanelNewNew, on February 14, 2014 at 1:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

Which would you prefer? I'm sure lots will probably say that button down shirt would be more comfortable spending the full day in especially with a photographer around but honestly, which would you be more likely to use again? Or which would you use more? I do want cute bridal getting ready photos but I want it to be something that my BP would use in the future as well.

I know this isn't really an answer to what you asked, but do you have any tall/bigger girls in your wedding party??

I know for me the whole "cute oversized button down" thing DOES NOT WORK. I just look like I have no pants on!

I totally agree w/ lora. Im pretty busty and ALWAYS have problems with button down shirts. Even when they're large in other places, the buttons pull across my chest. If the shirt is large enough not to pull, I look like im wearing a potato sack. Totally not flattering and I'd feel really uncomfortable having my picture taken in one.

What about a hoodie? I have a bride hoodie and am thinking of hoodies for the girls - they zip up so no over the head and something they could wear again! Maybe in the same color if you want them to be cute for pictures. My sister is rather large and I think she would be more comfortable in something like that rather than a robe or button up shirt. I personally don't wear button down shirts (due to a larger chest and they just gape) but love robes so would wear that again.

5 of my bridesmaids are petite with no boobs and then I'd say my sister is "average". She's 5'7 size 12 with a D cup. She actually frequently wears button up shirts so I think it would work ok for her. Great point though!

I think a hoodie is a good idea but what about underneath? I was originally thinking robes because I kinda wanted to do a spa day that day since the wedding isn't till 7pm but also want to do mani pedis as well

I think that the robes are a great idea but the shirts would be nice too if they were worn I could go with that but otherwise I would use the robes.

As long as the clothing doesn't say "bride", "bridesmaid", "groom", "future Mr/Mrs" you can wear it again and again.

It's like those summer camp shirts... You don't wear them after summer camp is over

Yeah I'm definitely not putting bridesmaid on them. Just a monogram.

I got robes for my girls. I don't like hoods when I'm having my hair done.

RObes would be nice. Useful afterwards too!

I've gotten both and I use my robe WAY more. And the pictures were cuter from that wedding!

We are wearing the button down shirts with black yoga pants. There will be no one looking like they have no pants on. Why don't people think of that?

Also, I had their monogram put on them instead of their role in the wedding.

I was actually debating between robes and oversized button ups as well! I would definitely do monograms as opposed to their wedding role, so they can wear them again. I just can't decide which to do.

I think I'm conflicted cause the button downs seem easier for the day but the robes seem more useful.

I personally like the button down over sized men's shirts...and found an Etsy shop that is actually adding men's style pajamas as well...so waiting on those. I am a total pajama whore! Slippers, too!

On me, a robe would be more inclined to open up awkwardly, than a shirt...and the shirts can be donned by themselves for the sexy pics, with boxers, or with yoga pants. But I am getting the super over sized ones that are meant to be worn as pajamas...night shirt style.

@Kat...do you have the name or link to that etsy shop? I love pj's, and so do my maids! That would be fun!
