Robes or flannel pajamas?

Alejandra, on September 4, 2021 at 3:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
I’m wondering what people would prefer to get ready in the morning of the wedding - a nice silk robe or flannel pajamas? We still be getting married in the Midwest in November so most likely chilly. I love the idea of both and I cannot decide which to get for my bridesmaids, our moms, and myself. Also, would anyone be able to link or lead me to where you got you “getting ready” attire? I’ve looked on Etsy but there are so many listings available, it’s overwhelming!

I gifted my girls robes, I found them on Amazon. I think you should get them whichever you think they’d personally like best.

I have been a bridesmaid 3 times and each time have been given a pink silk robe. I do not wear silk robes. I don’t know anybody who does outside of wedding photos-I would skip them.

I would be uncomfortable in a robe in front of all of those people - especially if pictures are being taken!

Flannel PJs is such a great idea for November! Much more practical than robes for November.

I got my girls’ PJs from SilkAndMore on Etsy and cannot recommend them enough. Exceptionally high quality, beautifully packaged and they customize the length of the bottoms to the girl’s height.

I personally would rather a robe because for me it would be easier to get on & off

Whatever you do get something like a button down. That way when they get ready they're don't have to pull something over their head and smudge make up or mess up hair. I am in the same dilemma area. I dont really wear silk clothes except around my future hubby. I also know that my girls and myself have some body image issues and are self conscious. Soo... I dont know what to do either.

Definitely PJs! I've personally tossed every single robe I've been given to wear as a bridesmaid in the trash after the big day, but PJ sets are a completely different story--these I keep and wear often! As a bridesmaid, I would be thrilled to be given a pair of flannel PJs to wear for getting ready, and I would continue to wear them long afterwards.

I would personally prefer the flannel PJs, but I'm doing flannel shirts for everyone to get ready in! So that could be an idea as well.

I personally skipped that. I just told my girls to wear a button down/zip shirt so that it could easily be removed without messing up hair and make up.

Daughter's wedding was in January and she bought plaid flannel button down shirts for the girls & moms in her wedding color and we wore them with our own black leggings. (I think she got them on sale at Old Navy.) The shirts were awesome and super practical -- daughter and I both still wear them three years later. They also worked well across a wide range of sizes and were appropriate for wearing in public to get our nails done, to the hair salon, etc., as well as for super cute photos before we put our dresses on.

Button up flannel pjs or button up top and sweatpants or leggings. Robes are overpriced for cheap material that are very revealing and people will only wear the one time. The only way I would do a robe is a long plush but those are very expensive. Whereas the others may be something they already own.

For me, I think it would depend on the vibe I’m going for. If I was doing a barn/country wedding that has a touch of informal (mason jars, wine cork guest books, beer kegs, etc), I would probably go with the flannel PJs.

If I was doing something a bit formal, I’d probably do the satin robes.

Yes I think this is a good point. If they're for the photos, I'd go for whatever would fit the vibe I was trying to create.

Flannel PJs are super cute and practical, but give off a very cosy, comfortable vibe, as opposed to something more elegant, formal look, and I guess that is going to come across in the photos.

There are also really cute satin PJs, too that still look acceptably formal, and they’re just about the same price as the satin robes as far as I can tell on Etsy. I’d probably go with the satin PJs for both practicality and still acceptable for formal looks. I hate gifting items that never get used so I’d do satin PJs over satin robes.
