Rings?!

Jessica, on October 19, 2020 at 10:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
My engagement ring; I can’t tell if it’s too big?!? I got it sized to a 4.25. If I went down to a 4, it would be way too small but if I went up to a 4.5 it would be too big. My ring slides to my knuckles and stops because I have to give it some pull to get it off, and it also spins sometimes. Is it because it’s cold weather where I live, or should I have gone down to a size 4?? It took a month for them to size it and I really don’t want to go through that again.

I have this same issue. If it needs some effort to remove it, but not to where it's too difficult to remove, it sounds like the current ring size is OK. From what I've been told, spinning is normal.

Also, you could always go back to the store and ask them to re-measure your ring size, just to confirm.

When I tried the size 4, I was really struggling to get it off. It was hard to put on as well... and I wanted a size where I could take it off if I need to. In the mornings when I wake up and I’m really warm the ring is pretty tough to get off, so I’m hoping it’s like that in the summer.😂😂

Why do you think a 4 would be too small? Sounds like it would be perfect.

Edit: just saw your update. I would stick with the 4.25.

Spinning is normal, and you should have to put a little effort into getting it past the knuckle point. The weather also affects the fit due to finger swelling! Mine is a size 6 and will fit perfectly in the winter, but I'll have to put some effort into taking it off during the summer.

Sounds like the current size is a good fit! Definitely don't want it too tight lol. It'll likely fit a little more tight in the summer. It's annoying to have the ring spin, but as long as it's not falling off, and as long as it's not too tight, it sounds like the current size is good.

I have a fear of it being too tight and having to cut it off. this is my first time ever wearing a ring, so I don’t know what’s normal, what’s not normal, etc.

Order some ring guards from amazon. They are really cheap and actually work! I had this problem because I lost weight and both my engagement ring and band was too big. Once I put the ring guards on them it definitely helped

I had the SAME problem. We went to the jeweler to ask about having it resized (he also measured my finger before we got my ring but he explained that our finger size changes for many reasons throughout the day).

He suggested putting in these two “balls” idk the word for it lol...but he said it doesn’t ruin the ring and can be easily removed if I wanted to. At first it feels weird but then you don’t notice it. He added it for free so Idk how much it would cost if anything. Takes about 10 mins to add on. Rings?! 1

I have the same issue. I think mine is .25 too big. I bought a ring guard from Amazon and it helps. It’s clear and hides behind the band so no one can see it

Just to add to what the others have already said, once you add your wedding band to it, it will fit more snuggly.
It sounds like your ring is sized fine.

It doesn't have to be an exact size. You can ask them to make it a "tight 4" or a "loose 4.25." It sounds like it might be okay, but you're uncomfortable with it, so it's worth asking about. Also, since you'd be going down less than a quarter size, it might not take as long. I know with mine, it had to be taken down just over half a size (I thought it was going to be way to tight, but that's what the jewelry store person said I should do and it hasn't been a problem) and it took them over a month to resize it, which felt like forever, but they had to send it to be done somewhere else. If it's not a significant size difference, they're not disrupting the settings as much, so they might be able to do it in house, which in my case would've only taken a week.

I used to work in jewelry. It sounds like it’s sized just right, especially since it’s not summer (when your finger will be bigger) and you’re going to be adding at least one more ring. You can always use a ring guard in the winter, but it sounds like it would be much too tight in the summer months of you sized it any smaller.

I just ordered one from Amazon, and it’s suppose to come in on Thursday!! I’m hoping it works. It’s not super huge so even if I did get it resized, I wouldn’t need a bug difference. And I don’t think it would be worth it. I currently have a rubber band wrapped around it as a handmade ring guard, which thankfully has been such a blessing!!😊
