Rings too tight? Help!

Amy, on November 21, 2019 at 2:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

I had my e-ring and wedding band pre-soldered. I also had them resized as they were too big for my finger. I have larger knuckles but the "meaty" part of my finger is smaller. The jeweler measured my band to a size 4 and we decided to size my e-ring to a 4.5 (they did not have 1/4 sizes on their ring sizer.) We just picked them up yesterday afternoon. I struggled to get them on a bit over my knuckle but we had been out running errands so I thought maybe my fingers were slightly swollen from that. Last night and today I am worrying that they are too small since they were soldered. ( I read that rings will fit more snug once soldered) So while we measured my fingers for two rings, once soldered I am afraid that these are too tight? Once they are past my knuckle I can freely move them left to right without a struggle. When I press the bottom of the ring I can see a space between the top of my finger and ring. I can fit a toothpick between my ring and finger (all things google said to check for) the only issue I find is getting it on and off over my knuckle. SO I am wondering, should I take them back in to get them a half size larger or just plan on keeping them on so I don't end up with sore knuckles but won't have the problem of a spinning ring? (*Sigh*)

It is possible to get sizing beads put in so that the ring fits tighter but can still fit over the knuckles. They’re used a lot for people with arthritis and stuff like that. I would talk to your jeweler, they probably have some ideas.

It's super common. I always tell people you want them to fit slightly tighter than you think because with cold water or lotion, you can get them off if they are a little snug over your knuckle, but if it's too loose you could lose your ring. After it's been sautered it will fit tighter, and although possible resizing is much more difficult after they have been sautered.

Hey Amy! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!!

If you really feel like your rings are too tight for comfort, then I would highly recommend going back into the jeweler and seeing what they think. They may be able to offer a solution to keep it snug on your finger, yet still, fit comfortably over your knuckles.
