Hi Would you spend $1,000 and up on real diamond ring or sterling silver steal handmade that cost $300-900? Me personally I don’t about rings I don’t like my boyfriend spending a lot of money on rings so I will prefer handmade outta factories 🏭

I think someone mentioned this above but sterling silver can tarnish and is not as durable. Proper care can absolutely help so the ring doesn’t tarnish as fast but I know personally that I am rough with my hands and don’t take the time to clean the ring all the time so sterling silver is not for me.
If you want something that lasts decades I do recommend researching the quality of materials and diamonds (whether real diamonds or man made diamonds or even choosing no diamonds if you prefer). If you want a ring for now that you’ll upgrade later on then sterling silver would be fine.

For me it was important to have a real gold ring with a diamond because I wear it 24/7 and it would get scratched, tarnished, and damaged if it were a weaker metal and a weaker stone. Even if it were a “cheaper” ring, longterm we’d probably end up spending more money because I’d have to pay to repair and/or replace it.

If it’s something you want to wear daily, for the rest of your life, and possibly pass down, sterling silver is not the way to go. Sterling just isn’t nearly as durable as other metals and requires a lot more maintenance. It doesn’t matter if it has a diamond or not, though.

It all depends on what you want/can afford in a ring. If it’s worthwhile to you, you can spend upwards over 1k or be thrifty. There are alternatives to diamonds such as moissanite and other gems if you prefer. You can get different types of gold with varying palladium levels, 14k, 18k so that makes a difference in price too.

My engagement ring is a 1 ct black diamond with another 1/2 ct of black diamond stones in a 10 ct white gold setting (lower ct gold means it won't be as weak and pliable)...it was under $500 and that made me happy!!

We found titanium wedding bands at Joy Jewelers online, together under $500.
If you want simple or very little "extra", you do not have you pay through the nose, but you do need to do some savvy shopping.

My bridal set was about $3500, 14K white gold with diamonds, Neil Lane collection. I wouldn't suggest silver because it will tarnish over time. People wear it often for things that don't get worn every single day, but your rings will get work every day, so gold or platinum will be more durable. The price isn't the important part; you just want to love it because you'll wear it for so long.

Mine is white gold so it looks exactly like silver, but it's more durable.

Look off the beaten path, just because a vendor is newer doesn't mean they don't know their stuff or have really nice products. Check reviews, on sites other than their own, and really look around. If even 1 review says it's a scam, steer clear. Scour the internet for what you want.

I had never heard of Joy Jewelers, but FH is a semi driver and needs an extremely durable band, so had to get titanium. I just didn't want to pay thousands for it and neither did he. Turned out costs could be much more reasonable with companies who literally make the jewelry vs. buying and selling another designer's product.

I think it's all about uniqueness and what you're both comfortable. I'm a jewelry nut so the while process was super funnand surprising. My hubby and I like colored gems and unconventional stuff so one of his bands i got him us blackened steam punk silver with amethyst and my rings are rose pink gold and diamond/midnight blue sapphire.Rings question 1
