Ringbearer Doggo

Mandee, on November 2, 2019 at 4:29 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7

So we have ZERO little boys in our families. I suggested using our senior doggo (a little Jack Russell Terrorist) named Tanner as a joke. My FH totally went for it! Even suggested we get him a little suit and have my little sister (our flowergirl) walk him down the aisle! I can't believe he went for it, but now I'm considering logistics. With him being a senior doggo I'm not super concerned about him being a spazztic hyper nutcase (he'll probably be passed out by the time the reception's done!) but I am thinking of who takes him home afterwards or if I should designate a "dog keeper" or just set up his kennel in the getting ready room?

Have any of you guys done this? All of our venues are pet friendly (I was intending on having my horse with me, but he passed away on Friday) so that's not a concern.

First of all I'm so sorry to hear about your horse! The death of a loved animal is always so hard.
As for having a designated doggo person, I've been looking into this myself. I would love to include our three dogs in cocktail hour, but that would mean finding someone who can Pick the dogs up and drive them to the ceremony location, Handle the dogs through cocktail hour, and drive them home or somewhere to stay for our honeymoon.
I was planning on maybe just looking for a dog sitter through Tumbtack or something and finding one who would be willing to handle my dogs for an additional cost to me.

Check Rover instead! I use them all the time to let my dogs out/babysit them when we go on vacation!

Dogs are awesome and I think if you have yours at the wedding, there will be a lot of people around who naturally will want to watch him and whatnot. Maybe you could put up a little baby gate or some kind of separate area where he could sleep without being bothered.

Im so sorry about your horse!

’m doing this for my wedding too. And I’ll bring her crate and have my mom watch her once in a while, the wedding is not that long so I know it shouldn’t be a problem. I can also take her to the bridal room

We hired "FairyTail petcare" to include ours in our pics. They do travel so check them out. Otherwise I'd suggest Rover/wag. I was going to look into them if we hadn't booked this awesome service.

We have a pet sitter we always use, she knows our dog super well & does a great job. We dropped Lucky off with her the Thursday before our Saturday wedding. She brought her to our wedding 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, our dog walked down the aisle during the ceremony, we took a few pictures with her after, then she left & took her home and kept her until after our honeymoon. We obviously paid her gas money both ways and some additional money in addition to the $25/day we pay for pet sitting. Our dog is super well-behaved so she did a great job walking down the aisle by herself, then just laying down by the bridesmaids and napping until the ceremony was over. She never barks & is in large crowds a lot.
