Ring Soldering

EmAbrams, on August 14, 2019 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 30

I miss my ring!! I gave my engagement ring to FH last night so he can take it back to the Jewelers to get it Soldered before the wedding. We are getting married in 16 days and they told FH that it would take 10-14 days to get the ring back. I am sad I won't have my ring for the next two weeks but so flippin excited that the next time I put it on my finger will be when we say "with this ring, I thee wed!"

Are you planning to keep your engagement ring and wedding band separate or get them soldered together? I have really tiny fingers and I don't want my rings to spin. From past experience, my late husband's ring, I figured out pretty quickly if you solder them together this eliminates the spinning problem!

Is almost wedding day! So excited. I think is the perfect opportunity to also keep it clean and avoid last minutes accident so is good you don’t have it on. I didn’t wear mine for about a week before the wedding after the cleaning was done. I kept mine separate. I like having the option to wear only the band sometimes when traveling or going to the beach without worrying for the engagement diamond. I do have small fingers but don’t have a spinning problem so I’m good!

I kept mine separate due two the nature of my job! My ring is a bit flashy and I am sensitive of that and how it may be perceived by clients. I also work with children and my center stone sits up high and isn't very conducive for working with crafts/sand. I have a plain, 2mm white gold wedding band that I wear with my e-ring, and without it.

I will be keeping mine separate as well because I like the idea of being able to wear the wedding band for every day wear on its own and pull out the big one for nice events. I also knock it on all kinds of stuff and have needed to get it tightened like 3 times already during the 2 year engagement so I'll be happy not to have to worry about that as much now.

I have my grandmother's rings as my engagement ring and they're soldered together. I like that you can't lose them. I do wish the bars they used to solder them together were lower so they didn't rub fingers as much.

I want to have them soldered together but im afraid I will regret it. I have a pear shape diamond thats made so the wedding band slides nicely underneath and nestles, but I still can't seem to commit to having them put together.

I plan to keep them separate. I like the idea of them being one ring, but I also don't like the thickness it would create.

I'm keeping mine separate because I love the dainty look of my engagement ring!

I am going to have them soldered! Due to the shape of the band, I could probably leave them separate because one wouldn't spin without the other, but it would look funny if I ever wore the band without the e-ring. My band is an incomplete circle since my e-ring has a heart.

Originally I had the same thought about keeping them separate, wedding ring all the time and engagement ring for nicer occasions. But now that I have been wearing my engagement ring for a year, I'm starting to change my mind? I have a desk job so there is no reason I can't wear the bigger diamond day to day. I already take it off when I go to the gym or any other active event.. wouldn't I also take off my wedding band in these situations? I hate second guessing myself! lol

Date twins! I'm not getting mine soldered. I do need to stop wearing it at work though because it gets dirty. I'm having it professionally cleaned next week and it will be kept in a box until the day of.

I know I am so excited! I was thinking the same thing, how clean and pretty my ring will be when I get it back. I don't know why my ring spins, I have it all the way down to a size 4. I do understand the "keeping it separate" idea. My band by itself has a funny swoop in it to fit up against the engagement and would look totally stupid by itself! lol

Hey name twin! I am also a Michaela. So hard to find other people who spell it this way!
I also have a desk job (bank teller) but I still manage to knock it on things somehow, like the edge of my desk and whatnot, sunita just better for me to not wear the big stone all the time haha. But if you aren't clumsy like me than soldering it would probably be fine for you. 😁

Oh yeah that would be hard to deal with it getting stuck on everything and knocking it on stuff lol

Luckily...or unluckily... depending upon how you look at it, my ring is small so I don't have to worry about the bulk or thickness. I like to use the word dainty!

My ring all together is still dainty!! lol. I completely agree with you tho, I like the look of a dainty, not too gaudy ring

It sounds similar to mine! The band would definitely look funny on its own

I think you would take it off in those situations and for me personally I would be worried about loosing two pieces instead of just one lol Don't second guess...deep breath lol. Who knew there would be so many things to consider! Smiley smile
