Ring Sizing

Rachael, on April 5, 2018 at 1:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 21
Does anyone else’s engagement ring leave an indention on their finger? Most of the time it feels comfortable, but sometimes it feels pretty tight. Also, does anyone else’s wedding band feel way different than their engagement ring even though they’re supposed to be a matching set? I’ve tried my wedding band on a few times and with both rings on my fingers it’s really tight but with just one of them it feels fine. I’ve gotten it sized up a quarter of a size because of that (I want to be able to wear both rings at the same time after the wedding and still be comfortable) but I think I might have to get them sized up again. I just don’t want to spend too much money, give up my rings to get it done, or damage my rings by sizing too much. Advice please?!!!

I think you need bigger rings. My ring wiggles around quite a bit and leaves no mark. I'd try on a half size or full size up and see if that feels better.

My ring leaves in indentation but I think it's too big somedays, I'd say it depends on how much water I'm retaining. Today it's really loose whereas yesterday it was alot tighter, I dont know what to do either because I really dont want to have it resized again because it seems like a daily thing plus I want to lose some weight before the wedding so I know I may loose even more water weight that way and I'll def have to have it resized then. I'd say wait a little while and see if this is an ongoing issue before you make a decision

I would be careful with getting it too big, although a little bigger would probably be helpful. You don't want them to fall off. I would ask your jeweler.

Something to note is your fingers swell with heat, what you ate, exercise, etc... likewise they shrink with cold, so that may be part of why your rings feel too tight sometimes and not others.

I would get them sized up like 1/4 of a size. You have to think too, your engagement ring will move up to a larger part of your finger once you stack it on top of your wedding ring, so you'll likely have to get it sized up then too.

Just take your rings to a jeweler and see what they advise! My e-ring was comfortable sometimes, but then would be really tight other times. I ended up getting it sized up 1/2 a size and now it's never to tight, but there is still normally a small indentation.

I have the opposite problem. My ring keep slipping and sliding it actually needs to be size smaller. You can easily get your ring stretched to a bigger size

My finger is permanently dented from my ring, and my ring is absolutely not too small, it just has to do with the shape of my fingers, my skin, and how my body reacts to things. I’d be concerned if it ever felt tight or stuck on my finger, but it doesn’t. It comes on and off with ease, it spins...I has just permanently dented my skin.
I will say that partly because of how it sits, I’ll probably wear my band on the outside, and maybe go a quarter size up for that one.

Mine does too. I know my ring isn't too small, my fingers are just sensitive and adjusting to wearing it.

I have a permanent dent in my finger from my ring as well! It actually helps keep it from sliding off ever lol because it sits nicely in the dent. It's not too small or uncomfortable.

I have this problem too, but I live in the south so during the summer months humidity causes my fingers to swell so I just leave it the way it is. I don't want it to be stuck on my finger May-September Smiley xd

Mine is a little too big and it still leaves a mark on my finger. I think it will fit perfectly after I add the wedding band, so I'm leaving it alone.

You definitely need a bigger ring. IMO, rings should fit comfortably, to the point where you don't have to subconsciously think about wearing it. I'm not saying I forget mine's on by any means, but when it was bigger, I was always worried about losing it in the back of my mind.

Did FH purchase a warranty? If so, many places will resize for free.

Also, consider getting your bands soldered once you're married - that way they fit perfectly and don't move around.

My ring fits perfect after I had it sized, easy to slip on and off but I don’t constantly feel like I’m going to lose it. But it has left a permanent indent in my finger! Not a huge one, and it’s not cutting off my circulation or anything. But it does make me feel like it’s secure on my finger.
I agree with the PP who said you may want to have your rings soldered together after the wedding. I wouldn’t want to have my ring resized too many times!

Your fingers can swell if you've had a lot of salt intake, if you're on your period, etc... so if they're comfortable most of the time, and your finger isn't turning bright red or purple lol, I'd say leave them alone. Make sure you're taking them off at night before you go to bed though, as they can affect your circulation.

When I tried on wedding bands, the size we ordered fit great. After the wedding, they felt way too tight on together, and I had a little bit of a freakout because my wedding band is a diamond eternity band and can't be resized. But after a couple days, I got used to them, and they weren't tight anymore. I think I was just bloated from all the food and alcohol of the previous few days, and stress because we missed our flight to our minimoon (we were in the airport when the rings were bothering me). Now I truly don't even feel my rings on my finger, and I do have a bit of an indent on it when I take them off when I get home.

My rings fit me well, they regularly spin around and slide a bit and they come off easily, and I still have a ring dent in my finger. I never take them off, even at the gym and in the shower, and I think its due to that. But take yours in to a jeweler and see if they advise you change sizes so you'll be most comfortable.

I was just thinking the same thing when I was trying b my custom wedding band (that just arrived back from the jewelers) with my e-ring. My jeweler originally suggested a 1/4 size smaller than my normal ring size since it was going to worn as an engagement ring. And for the 14 months that worw my e-ring (our engagement is 22 months), it fit perfectly fine. And by itself - actually, either ring by themselves is fine - it's just went worn together, they feel super tight. So tight, I can't get them off when worn together! So odd. So I definitely know how you feel. Since I'm not planning to wear them together often, just on special occasions like date night, I'm not too worried. I plan on just wearing my wedding band after we're married.

What does getting them soldered do?

Please dont get it bigger. Mine wouldn't leave an indent and fell off in a lake.

The fake one I use now leaves a slight indent like that and it's fine, I wish my real was more like this smaller fake one's size

It permanently binds them together so that they are one and don't move and twist separately.

Mine leaves a cute tan line and when my finger swells during hot days/seasons, it does indent ever so slightly. I read that sizing up a quarter is a good idea as it does make a difference (not strangling your finger), yet not too big that it causes the rings to slip out.

This is something I struggled with too (to the point of obsession) my jeweler said it’s perfect as long as it stays on and fits and comes off easily. My ring still slides off with ease but leaves an indent. This pic is after 14 hours of wearing ring, I also have Raynauds which causes my fingers to swell drastically sometimes.
