Ring Size?

Mrs.a, on August 22, 2020 at 6:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Did anyone get different sizes between your engagement ring and wedding band? I’m noticing that my finger is skinnier and wider and it seems I may need a larger (half size) for my wedding band. Thoughts?

I may have to. I've lost a dress size since my engagement and my finger is significantly thinner.

My daughter had the same issue. One of her rings (wedding?) is a half-size larger than the other. She had her rings soldered to keep the designs on both bands aligned properly and it worked fine, even though the bands are different sizes.

I had similar problems. I went to the jeweler because the band didn’t fit although it was the same size as my engagement ring. The lady suggested making both bigger since wearing 2 rings squeezes more.

Yeah what Samanth said. The jeweler told me to make everything a quarter size off from what I thought it would be comfortable, and my finger swells and its still comfortable. But I have a ring guard so its covering more real estate.

I currently have a silicone band so I don't know how much the size really means, so I won't give personal advice. However, when I was having my engagement ring resized, the person in the jewelry store said that sometimes people end up wanting a slightly larger size for the wedding band because when you put a second ring on the same finger, if it's the same size it will sit where your engagement ring currently does and pushes the engagement ring closer to your knuckle where the finger is a little bit wider. If the wedding band is a little bit larger, they should fit more comfortably together. I can only see it being a problem if you have something like a partial eternity band and you didn't want it to spin, or if they were made of very different materials and one could damage the other if there was too much friction.

I wish I had seen this post before! Both my rings are the same size, but my band feels ever so slightly snug. Not enough to bother me when wearing, but somewhat annoying to take off, especially when my fingers swell. But, both my rings are partial eternity rings, and my band stays in place while my e-ring twists off to the side more often even though it's on top. *shrugs* All that to say, my wedding band could have been a quarter size larger for ultimate comfort.

Yeah, my finger definitely seems to get wider in front of and behind where my engagement ring sits so I thought it would only make sense to size up on the bands. I have a ring sizer and it actually feels more comfortable being half a size to a whole size up from my engagement ring size.

Right? I’m writing this as I already have my band from our commitment ceremony which is the same size as my engagement ring...it feels alright but I wish I would have sized up a little. We’re doing another band for our actual wedding so they will be stacked on either side of the engagement ring, so I think for that I will order a larger size. That will sit where my finger obviously gets wider so that makes sense.

We were thing of doing the same thing with my rings. (Just had a minimony earlier this month; big day postponed.) After reading this, I'll definitely size up for the top band. Thanks!!
