Ring size

Danielle, on July 15, 2017 at 9:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

So my engagement ring was originally a size 4.5. I spent a few weeks getting sized to send it off to James Allen in NY to have it resized within my 60 day allowance period. I finally settled on having it resized to a size 4, because a 3.5 was either impossible to get over my knuckle or really difficult, depending on the day (hydration, etc.). I just got it back and now it is still too big. Sometimes it slides right over my knuckle and it rotates around my finger constantly. It is a 1/8 band with a halo around the center stone. I had a sizer that worked really well with it as a 4.5, but now it is uncomfortably snug with the sizer. Anyone else had this issue? Any ideas...suggestions? Really frustrated. Is it normal for your ring to constantly rotate with the weight of the center stone? Thanks!

Mine spins often, but doesn't slide over the knuckle so it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't want it to be too tight. I live in the northeast, so it's a little looser in the winter and more snug when I sweat in the summer. As long as it's not close to falling off I'm not worried.

Sometimes it depends on the time of day, month, or weather. Bring it to a local jeweler, I did and they sized me completely different than I would have. I thought it was too tight, but now realize its the perfect size.

My engagement spun a lot and drove me crazy. Once I got my wedding band the spinning stopped. My jeweler recommended not resizing until after we were married because the band makes a difference in the fit.

I am not quite sure how responding individually works yet.... Smiley winking ...thank you ladies! I need to find out about this beads thing. Smiley smile and I am seriously hoping a wedding band will make a difference.

My size fluctuates a lot because I live in Florida where my hands are hot and swollen outside but cold and thin inside with AC. I got 2 beads put on my band and it no longer spins or comes off without effort. Also it cost about 20 dollars to have added.

I had mine sized down to 3.5 and was told it couldn't go any smaller without damaging the structure of the ring (it really should be 3.25) so I bought these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WP4JSYH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

they have really helped with the sliding!

Just go to Wal-Mart and get the plastics clear Sizers and you can cut them down to the length to make them fit better (I wear a size 4 and have this issue all the time)

Have you tried a quarter size? 3.75? I was in a spot where a 4.5 was uncomfortably snug but a 5 was too big, and we found an antique ring that was a 4.75 and it's perfect!

My rings are 4.25 and I had sizing beads added to the e-ring because it kept turning. Can't see or feel the beads when the rings are on.

Mine spins but I am OK with that. Once you add the wedding band the added thickness can be too much if the ring is a "perfect" fit. Have you tried yours on with a wedding ring of the size you expect to wear? It might make it more secure.

Go for a quarter size that's what I had to do.

Have them put Tiffany balls on the inside of the band.

I love my ring from James Allen. It did however do exactly what you said as mine is a half carat double halo. But I just wear the ring sizers and the longer I wear it the better it fits. If you get a heftier wedding band and have them soldered together, it will add more weight to the band and hopefully stop it from turning.

Mine rotates constantly. I also have large knuckles with a small finger (so the ring has to fit over the knuckle but doesn't really fit the part of my finger where it sits). It rotates all the time.

Mine rotates all the time but never over the knuckle. I'd be worried about losing it if it's slipping over the knuckle
