Ring size problems

thomastobe, on October 20, 2016 at 11:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I don't wear jewelry aside from my engagement ring, so maybe someone can help me out. I got my ring sized so that it doesn't feel like it's going to fall off, but my knuckle is so much bigger than my finger that if I size it any smaller I won't be able to get it on. So at the size I have it now, how can I keep my ring from constantly sliding from side to side on my finger? It's driving me crazy! I just want it to stay put lol

Lol I have the same problem. Someone suggested I add a spacer which it a little gold ball they saunter to the ring to keep it from turning. However I heard it can be uncomfortable.

Yes, you can get those little sizing beads soldered to your ring to keep it from spinning....but wait until you choose a wedding band.

My ring is 6.5 and I bought my wedding band and had it sized to 6.5 too, and had them soldered together. Having the wedding band added to it made my ring stop spinning, and even though they're both 6.5 for some reason having two together makes them fit more like a size 6.

Chances are once you add a wedding band your ring will stop spinning.

When I initially got my engagement ring, I thought it was the perfect size! I realized soon after it was just a tad bit annoyingly too big. I bought a ring guard (clear plastic that goes around the band to take up extra space) and used that for a while:

Eventually I decided to get the ring made a little smaller so I wouldn't have it sliding around my finger (the ring guard helped, but didn't stop that completely).

A ring guard may be a helpful option for you, if getting the ring downsized further makes it too hard to put on (depending on how much room there is, you can twist that ring guard on after it's on your finger, so the guard doesn't have to go over your knuckle too).

ETA: I agree with AMW... don't get your engagement ring sized down too much. When you add the wedding band to the mix, everything fits tighter on that finger because it's taking up more space overall. If I try to slide my engagement ring and wedding band off at the same time, it's a little difficult; I can slide them off separately with no problem. But having two rings there makes it extra wide so it'll feel like it fits smaller.

Whatever you do, keep in mind that rings loosen during cold weather and tighten during hot weather when the heat makes our fingers swell. Just something to talk to your jeweler about if you do decide to resize it.

I have the same exact problem. My knuckles are larger then my finger so I have to get it sized so it would fit around my knuckle but then it constantly slides and moves. My jeweler added a butterfly shank, and it helped a little bit but not entirely. Then I ordered off of Amazon clear plastic ring guards but can only put them on while I have my ring on already and I need my FH to do it for me bc it's rough doing it by yourself so I don't get to use it. Just basically on the weekend. I tried it out last Saturday and it helped for a couple hours then it started spinning again. UGH. It's really frustrating. I feel like my ring will never fit.

I hope like previous people mentioned, it will fit better once I have wedding band added

I've researched ring sizing and unfortunately there's not really a way to size it perfectly. From what it sounds like, you have it sized the proper way. Maybe asking the company your fiancé bought your ring from to see if there are any suggestions they have would be a good idea Smiley smile

Hello Thalia, don't be like Brandi and never changed her avatar. Please update yours!

As for the ring, my finger swell sometime too. As a first time ring wearer, it's so hard to get used to it.

I have the exact same problem. I've already had it sized down to a 6 because any smaller and it wouldn't fit over my knuckle. I'm worried with winter coming that it's going to feel even looser!

There is a ring sizer on amazon that can slide into your ring after you get the ring over your knuckle. It didn't work for me because my ring is just the teensiest bit too big, so with the sizer on it was painfully tight, but it worked for my FH who is a pianist and has ginormous knucles and teeny fingers.

So glad I'm not the only one with this problem! I've had my ring for a couple months now and it drives me nuts sliding and spinning around all the time. I've tried the clear spacer from Amazon which worked awesome but ended up taking it off because I thought it looked tacky (isn't real noticeable though). I hope adding the band helps as others have said!

I have this problem as well. Once I have my wedding band on my e ring wont spin anymore because it will sit at the fleshier part of my finger.

UGH I'm glad I'm not the only one. FH ordered my ring in a size 3.5 but it kept rolling around all over the place. I got it sized to 3.25 because I couldn't get a 3 over my knuckle but it still does the same thing. I'm just going to deal with it until I get my band, I think that will help since it sits closer to the base of my finger. If not I think I'll have to do sizing beads.

I had to go with 4.75. 4.5 was too small and 5 was too big.
