Ring regret!

purplekitten, on August 18, 2015 at 10:41 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

FH and i purchased our wedding bands over the weekend, and I'm having regret about mine. I'm afraid it doesn't look with with my engagement ring. I feel like it should look more like the diamond-style on the top of my ring.

It's like....I like it, but I don't love it... and I feel bad about feeling that way.

Input? Advice?

It fits perfectly with your engagement ring.

I've had ring regret a little bit, but only because of the cost. We initially planned to get wedding rings on Etsy for pretty cheap, but I made the mistake of going to the jewelry store and trying on the matching band to my engagement ring and I fell in love. It was WAY more than what we wanted to spend, but my "I have to wear this for the rest of my life so I should love it" mindset took over and we bought it anyway.

I actually love your wedding ring and think it goes very well with your e-ring. However, if you're not happy, can you return it? Like I said, you have to wear it forever! You should love it.

I think its gorgeous, and unique. I went through immediate buyers remorse with mine too because the jewelers kept saying it didn't match perfectly with my engagement ring, but I really wanted it to look like two separate rings.

I think yours look cool together and I like the diamonds/silver contrast. Try wearing it without the other ring for a little and see what you think, you should love it since it is forever

Are you talking about how one band has the stones inlaid and the other has them kind of free with the prongs? Your band looks great but if you're not totally sure, maybe take it back and try on the two different styles right next to each other. At the very least, you'll reassure yourself. You get to wear this band FOREVER so it should be something you're excited about.

When I first got my wedding band I really didn't like it that much. It was the matching band to the e-ring so I kind of felt like that was just the one you were supposed to get. I didn't even think about looking at others.

I had the ring for over a year before getting married and I barely looked at it but once we got closer to the day that I could actually wear it I started to really like it. I think that band looks great with the e-ring but I understand feeling like you made the wrong choice.

@Jeanne - Yes. I wish the style of the stones on the band was more similar to the style of the small stoned on the e-ring. They didn't have anything like that at the store, though, so I wasn't able to compare.

I think it looks great! If you have more of a channel setting like the top it will be thicker with smaller stones which will add to it looking more like two separate rings vs now it looks like one ring! But again, you have to wear it forever so do what feels right. I'm sure a jeweler will custom make you one too!

Personally I think they fit really nicely together and that the band at the bottom helps balance things out. Like the other ladies have said though, its something that you will have "forever", so if you think that you wont like it in 20 years maybe see if you can bring it back and get something more stylized and has the bottom diamonds offset a bit? I think that they look great together and that both are gorgeous, but my opinion means little as I am not the one who has to wear it Smiley smile.

I think it looks really pretty together, since it almost looks like one ring. I understand that it kind of feel different, but I think it's because the stones on the band are a bit bigger. I would maybe scour the web to find something that you might think looks closer to what you are looking for and go out to the store to see if you like it better.

You'll either find something you absolutely love, or you'll find you went with this one for a reason.

Hmm maybe shop around? I know the store we were at had that style (it was what my fiancé originally wanted for me) but I don't think there are locations outside our state. Now that you own this ring, you could take it with you to a couple different places to get an idea. I really think seeing the differences close together would help settle this for you.

The difference in the size of the stones would irritate me too at first, PK, if it wasn't what I was going for and caught me off guard.

That said, I'm becoming more and more a fan of rings that aren't matchy-matchy. I like this. If you can get over the initial irritation and fall in love with it, then forget the regret!

I think this is something you just need to evaluate and see if it'll drive you crazy forever. Smiley smile The ring itself is lovely. It's up to your comfort levels.

ETA - and by saying it's not matchy-matchy, I don't mean it doesn't coordinate. Because it does flow together nicely! The combo looks like it belongs together. But the different stone sizes could actually be a nice little variation.

I really love this set. It's so unique but classy. Sit with it for a bit, and if it doesn't totally feel right, then change it.

I really like it but it's your ring so you have to love it. Is it possible to get a similar style band from where your FH got the E-ring or maybe a custom?

I like it. It makes it special. I like that your wedding band is bigger and a little different from the top of your e-ring.

That being say I would give a few weeks and if it still irrates you, maybe see if you can get one that is offset like your ring.

I think it looks good together. The stones are slightly different size but it still compliments your e-ring very nicely.

I love it pk! It's so purdy!!!! Being slightly different makes it more uniquely yours. But the ocd part in me understands you wanting it to be the same style as your ring. I still think it's gorgeous!

Don't regret it. It's absolutely beautiful together. I wouldn't have noticed such a little difference if you didn't point it out. I think you pick a perfect band.

I think it looks nice but if you aren't comfortable with it, ask if you can switch for something else. You have to love it.

Well, it's staring to sound like I'm overthinking it!

    Thanks, all, for your input!
