ring problems

Love your ring! I definitely also have days when my rings are really tight and others when they feel super lose. If the ring is more often really lose I would take it to a jewelers and discuss the option of resizing it.

With how thick the band is it’s definitely harder to get a smaller size over the knuckle. Can you go down a quarter size?

Are you going to wear a second band when you get married? If so, definitely don't size it smaller, because it will fit tighter when you have 2 bands on. I totally feel your struggle though, I have really thin fingers and big knuckles... I always thought I was a size 5 but was always so worried my size 5 rings were going to slide off, and they were constantly spinning. Got my engagement ring as a 4.5 and at first was worried it was too tight... then after a couple weeks getting used to it, realized, oh, it's SUPPOSED to fit like this hahaha.

The test that the jeweler gave me is, go somewhere safe obviously, and it has to be when you're cold (so your hands are not swollen). Shake your hand around as hard as you can. Does the ring go flying off, or feel like it's starting to slip over the knuckle at all? If so, it's too big. If not, it's not going to fall off by accident so don't worry lol.

Definitely see a jeweler too, they have sizing tools and can try out how the different sizes would feel on your finger. Like I said, I was always convinced I was a size 5, but when the jeweler put the size 5 sizer on my finger, she instantly knew that was too big. And when she tried a 4.25, she said I was struggling TOO much to get it off. 4.5 I seemed to struggle just the right amount. When my hands are warm or swollen (like, first thing in the morning) I literally can't get the ring off, and sometimes it leaves a tiny indentation on my finger (but not one that hurts at all) and it can always slide up and down, just not over the knuckle. When I'm cold, it slides over my knuckle just fine, but only when I pull at it for a few seconds.

I am a Lord of the rings fan and years ago (like **** years ago lol) when others were getting married I used to joke that I would only marry whoever could get me the actual precious
Probably years later we even looked up one day who made the rings and learned about Jens Hansen in New Zealand
fast forward a couple of years again until about this time last year and he’s back on “legal” marriage? (as we already lived as spouses for years)
i said Too bad Gollum lost it because I actually would do it just to never hear this again
so apparently he immediately starting saving and ordered the ring from the actual jeweler who made the movie props and had them include special and unique extra like photos and letters. They even took the time to send me pictures of my ring with the actual movie prop of the 8” one Ring from gbs title sequence of the movies!
im unaware of any of this, of course
My SO in May SO reminds me that I already agreed we could get married so we would need an engagement ring: he took me “ring shopping” the weekend before he proposed and probably had my ring in his pocket
he was a little too laughy that day and apparently received it the Wednesday before lol
I thought we were getting engagement ring ideas and I had looked up versions of the 1 ring to be our wedding bands (like $100 each)
the next weekend was his birthday and we went out of town to celebrate with my family which actually isn’t weird because I hate seafood and he loves it so we go hang with them so they can all eat yucky seafood together
so supposedly he wants seafood for his birthday
Then on Saturday a sister comes over but she lives close so not weird. She just “decided” to stay the night
glenn called my brother in front of me and “invited” him because they’ always gotten along well
I still didn’t think anything if it
until my younger sister showed up Sunday

then I was like so weird to be together for Glenn’s birthday what are you doing here (she actually lives near us like 4 hours away lol) and I looked over and saw Glenn walking in with our toddler and he said don’t you want to give that to mommy and I looked at her hand and saw a wooden box in her hand...
and he got down on a knee and propped Brittany on his leg and said you know you’ve been my world forever now so you have to say yes because I did exactly what you wanted and got you Saurons Ring lol
Of course I said yes lol
Insurance cannot replace that
18k solid gold (incredibly thick, heavy ring) cost 2000 thanks to duty changes under trump but I don’t want another
Jens doesn’t do 1/4 sizes and I don’t trust any other jeweler to even look at it much less actually touch it
Last two just now and you can really see it’s used lol gold is soft but I’m just so attached to it

So my ring is like 1/4 to 1/2 size too big in the winter and like 1/4 size too small in the summer. I just have to deal with it or I'd be resizing twice a year. Before you do ANY resizing make sure to have it for a year so you can see how you do with the seasons. (Unless it is WAY too big or small)

Ask about sizing beads. They're little balls or nubs, often two, that are soldered on the inside that help snug up the fit while leaving room to get it over a knuckle

i think this is going to be something that’s real for me: I have never tolerated any jewelry ever before so
i didn’t know how much your fingers vary in size lol: it’s crazy but completely logical the seasons and weather (temperature) also influences it

and im definitely not going weeks without it once or twice a year while it rides to New Zealand and back either lol!

i will just always be super vigilant and probably use a prop ring when it’s loose and get a chain in the style from the movies

Yeah, my fingers change A LOT but my best friend's barely do at all. I'd just wait and see how it fits through the year and then you can decide. That might not be a problem for you at all

we met as roommates in October 2005 and haven’t really been apart for any reason since and never will be... he slept on a hospital couch (at 6’3’) for almost 3 months when I was pregnant with our daughter... literally only left my side to work and go home twice per day when we didn’t have dog sitter to put out and feed dogs

i don’t know who I was in a past life to earn him but I’m grateful for whatever they did lol

i literally met the love of my life and soul mate out of nowhere at pretty much 19 when I had never dated, had zero interest in dating, and was very exclusive about who I am willing to associate with and have in my life

God works in mysterious ways and gave me something and someone special and I thank him every day (and sometimes every hour or minute) for blessing me

we have been beaten by life before and abandoned by family and friends but we have always had each other for my adult life

they seem to think it probably needs resizing a bit from losening as high gold content makes it wear

i had forgotten they did tell us they commonly resize once within a year or two

im going to have it measured to see if that’s it
