Ring Insurance

Melissa, on September 6, 2019 at 3:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Hello all! I couldn't find any discussions on insuring your rings. My ring and bands will be less than $1000 since they are gemstone but I'm still considering an insurance policy. Id love to hear if you have experience with jewelry insurance and if its worth the money, even for a less expensive set. Thanks!!!

I think it's still worth an insurance policy. The one's I've seen (depending on the value of your ring) is no more than $20-$40 a year I believe and covers loss, theft, and damage. Your ring can also be appraised for more than you bought it for, so you're covered for more!

We added my ring onto our home insurance policy...? Maybe if you have like home or renters insurance you can add it on?

My set is insured, but we chose not to add it to our homeowner's insurance. We didn't want to have to pay our $500 deductible if something was to happen. I would recommend checking out Jeweler's Mutual. It should only be about $25 a year.

Depending on how much the insurance is i think its worth it or can you add it to your renters/ homeowners?? My ring is insured by Zales for the diamonds mostly but i did get separate insurance for theft, loss, and etc. I think its worth it you can never be to safe honestly and if something happens you know you can get it replaced.

My FH had my rings insured through geico. It’s only $30 a year. But it and of the stones become loose/fall out, it’s conpletel covered, so it’s definitely worth it!

This is the one I was looking at! It was $14 a year with zero deductible for the cost of my rings. Seems almost too good to be true but the details on the coverage seemed pretty great!

Thank you!! I thought the same thing about the homeowners... I don't know if the full deductible applies but I bet they aren't as used to processing the claims as Jewelers Mutual!

I recently added on my engagement ring to our renter's insurance policy, and it cost a little over $20 for the year. I think any option you choose is a good investment, though, because you'll have that ease of mind if something were to happen (which it hopefully doesn't!).
