Ring insurance đź’Ť

Allie, on April 26, 2020 at 5:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hi!

I am trying to figure the best service / company to use to insure my engagement ring (at least for a year as of right now). We are not currently owning home so we don’t have home owner insurance. Our car insurance only let’s me insure up to 8,000, but the ring is worth much more.
I’m currently living abroad in Australia and the jeweler we used does not offer insurance.
I’m at a loss and would be so thankful for anyone to share what they did / why or why you didn’t use a service/company.
Thank you đź’–

We use jewelers mutual! Not sure if it’s available in Australia though.

    Hello Allie!

I can suggest you Jewelers Mutual insurance group, as for me it's one of the best services for ring insurance with a good reptation. By the way there are also some not very good companies, so strongly advise you to check out all reviews and carshield complaints on the web.

Do you have renter's insurance? My jewelry is on a rider for our renter's policy

We use a company called Lavalier - my ring is from brilliant earth and that’s who they recommend. I highly recommend them for anyone though. We’ve already had to use it.. about 3 months after we got engaged I had a little accident and long story short.. my diamond broke. They replaced the diamond (actually an upgrade from the original) and we didn’t have to pay a cent out of pocket.

I have a policy with Jewelers Mutual. Definitely read the policies so you know exactly what is covered and what’s not. We have renters insurance which technically covers the ring but for only certain circumstances so that’s why I bought a policy with Jewelers, it covers a lot more.

State Farm offers a Personal Articles Policy (PAP) which allows you to insure different types of valuables including your ring. Not sure if it applies the same way in Australia but they have sister companies all across the world. Good luck.
