Ring Bearer Sign Too Cheesy?

Becoming a Mrs, on April 14, 2016 at 12:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

So my step son is 6 and I'm trying to figure out if I want him to use the classic pillow or if he's too old. I started looking at some alternatives and came across the signs (don't worry I would never use the "last chance to run sign iccckkkk) But at the signs in general too cheesy? I don't know what else I should have him carry. Any suggestions?

Personally I hate all the signs and think they're all cheesy. What if instead of a pillow he uses a cool box?

A pirates treasure box? A ring security box? You can probably find ideas, at your local craft store.

P.S. Yes, I think that signs are cheesy. My sister's ring bearer was 10 and carried a pillow. He didn't care.

He's only 6, he is not to old for the pillow.

All of the signs I've seen are ridiculous. I would just go traditional on this.

Yeah I'm not into the signs really. I suppose for me, it's because they're overdone now and I feel like people are trying too hard. I dunno. To each their own, of course.

My sister and I both used a little mini treasure box we got at hobby lobby (purchased separately, ha) and told the ring bearer if he got down to the end of the aisle with it, it was his. Our ring bearers were younger though.... 3-4.

We did put our rings in the box for him because they're cheapos, but my sister had the best man hold onto them, and the box was empty.

I personally hate the signs. I like the idea of him carrying the rings in a little box. We didn't have a ring bearer, just 2 flower girls, so FH held the rings.

I have a 6 year old grandson. If his mother tried to have him carry a sign that would make everyone look and him and say, "Oh, look! How cute! He's so adorable!", he wouldn't be happy. I have no doubt he'd rather wear a tux, carry a small box, and look as sharp as all the other "guys" in the wedding.

I'm glad you're letting the signs go. Frankly, I don't care for them at all.

I'm struggling with this, too. The only 2 signs I like say, "Don't worry ladies, I'm still single" and "Has anyone seen the rings?" My ring bearers will be 3 1/2 and 5 and I thought these signs were fitting for them.

I think the signs are super-cheesy, and sometimes offensive ("last chance to run, Uncle Zeke") etc.

We're doing a box - I found one on Etsy with an LOTR motif. A pillow would be useless afterward, but I can use the box to store wedding keepsakes (some petals from my bouquet, an invitation, etc)

Mine carried a little metal briefcase that said "Ring Security" on it. We didn't want to do the little pillow. We had another little boy in the wedding carry a sign that said "Romelle, here comes your bride"which I loved. It was a surprise to him so he teared up when he saw him carrying it.

Definitely not a fan of the "Last chance to run" sign.

Lol @Centerpiece I was told by him from the very beginning that he will not be wearing a bow tie and he wants a normal one just like dad lol.

I'm gonna start looking at different box options!

I recognize that *everything* becomes dated, but trends like signs (bedazzled robes, Mr/Mrs shirts, mustaches, etc) truly attach themselves to the wedding zeitgeist of later 2000s-Present. If you're okay with that, fine, do you, but century-old wedding pictures look more timeless than half the stuff floating around now. No orchestrated pretense, I suppose.

He's not too old for a nice pillow or perhaps a nice wooden box that you can have in your home or give to him forever (maybe start a new tradition -- if he gets married, he can have it for his wedding years down the line).

Like Brooke, I hate the signs. All of them.

Not a fan of signs but my step-son is 6 as well. We're having him carry a regular pillow but the print on the fabric is a Star Wars print. Suitcase or box options are always cute as well, Etsy has a ton of great options.

I thought about having our daughter, (who's also our flower girl), carry a sign that said "Daddy, here comes Mommy!" In the ended I opted for the traditional basket of flowers cause she was a lot more excited about that. It's a personal thing, but I'm definitely with everyone else about hating those "last chance to run" signs.
