Ring bearer outfit

So my fiancé and I are having trouble on deciding on what the ring bearer should wear. For clarification we are having a child free wedding so we asked my cousin who is a senior in high school. My fiancé thinks the ring bearer shouldn’t match the groomsmen because “he’s not part of the bridal party, he’s in a different classification”. I think they should match so everyone looks cohesive and it looks better for pictures. We are also having a Flower Dude instead of a flower girl and can’t decide on him either. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

What is your goal here? ARE you trying to give the cousin a task in the wedding or wanting to give him a honorary role? Otherwise a groomsman can keep the rings. The basic purpose for the ring bearer and flower girl was to add a cute element with the children.
It shouldn't be critical what they wear but if your FH does not want the cousin to match, his request might as well be followed.

A ring bearer is absolutely part of the bridal party, without question. Whether it is a child or an adult in the roles of flower girl/ring bearer, they are part of the party.
Conversely, you can still honor the distinction of having the ring bearer wear something different. I see you're having a May wedding: perhaps the same suit color but without a jacket and with suspenders instead? How about a tie in the same metallic color as your rings?
You make the rules. Do not overthink it, have fun and make something memorable.
