Ring bearer but no flower girl?

Pancakes, on July 25, 2014 at 8:34 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

We have a nephew who will be 3.5 years old by the time we have our wedding. We have no young girls in both of our close families. And even friends, there is only one girl out of all of their kids and we aren't that close with her. Would it be strange to have a ring bearer but no flower girl?

Thanks!

I don't think there would be anything wrong with it. IMO, it would be better to have just a ring bearer than to pick a random flower girl just to look "even".

We have the same situation... young boys in the family but no girls. To make it easy, we opted for no flower girl OR ring bearer. Instead, our dog will bring our rings down the aisle! It's your wedding so do what makes you happy! definitely don't feel obligated to have a flower girl.

It's fine. We have our 5 year old nephew but no FG. My cousin just had a baby girl and for one minute I thought about asking, but 3 months is way too young!

I would love our dog to bring the rings down! Smiley smile

I think the next youngest girl we are close to in the family is me.... And I'll be somewhat otherwise occupied. Lol. Okay. Thanks for the opinions! Glad I'm not in the wrong Smiley smile

I have a FG and no RB. I think FH's son who is BM will be holding my rings. LOL

I think that would be fine. We are having a flower girl but no ring bearer because my 4 year old will be the best man and my 3 nephews are not old enough to follow directions yet.

I think that's fine! I'm not having either. I've seen where people ask the grandmothers to be flower girls. It's actually really sweet and if my grandmother hadn't passed almost two years ago, I'm confident that's what we'd be doing!

Our two boys were the ringbearers, no flowergirl. Our daughter who is 10 I just thought was too old for that and she was my Junior Bridesmaid.

There is nothing wrong with that. I also will have a ring bearer (FH's godson) and no flower girl because we are not close to any nieces in either family (and the girls on FH's side are not that well behaved and they will be too old by the time we get married). As long as you have no problem with it, then it is ok.
